We choose to eat at the Trading Rooms because of the large indoor dining area which appealed on a hot day. The menu offered a number of attractive meal options, and the kids menu appealed to our boys. Wait staff were prompt in taking the order, but we're not aware of the beers that were on offer and could not... More

View was nice. Forget about eating here. Salmon was not properly cooked. Salmon cake absolutely not eatable. Side ordered fries not served and when eventually arrived, re-fried potatoes. Coffee as dessert? Not possible because heating up the coffee machine (was broken earlier that day) would take to long?

Nice waterfront location, wait staff friendly, menu looked good but food itself pretty average. I had the special - Turkey & Bacon Salad with Cranberry Sauce, didn't have any bacon and the turkey reheated so dry and rubbery. Hubby's Seafood Pasta which wasn't fresh seafood and dish overcooked. Our sons pizza and chips looked the best....... Definitely wouldn't return or... More

We drove to Akaroa over the New Year holidays to enjoy an Akaroa salmon lunch. The Trading Rooms Restaurant was highly rated, and Akaroa salmon was on the menu that was posted in the window. When we asked for salmon at 1:15 pm we were told it was all sold out. So we ordered cream of mushroom soup (excellent) and... More

French style food and a large portion. We really enjoyed the ambience inside this restaurant and were impressed with the service .

I booked this restaurant based on other reviews. The service was sloppy, we didn't get the table that was reserved for us (on request). The food was ok but the whole place needs a makeover. If you want to serve pub style food then you might have nailed it, but at pub prices. Seriously disappointed.

We were serenaded by a pianist and violinist improvising on the waterfront while the sun set. Pretty romantic! I had the soup of the day which was a weird potato and eggplant combo (which I'd encourage you to skip if they offer it again) and my husband had octopus prepared in a chewy, slow-cooked (almost jerky) way that he liked... Having walked in and out of a number of other eateries in Akaroa due to chaotic and poor service in show, we were pleasantly surprised by the good food and excellent service at the trading rooms. I had chicken linguine which was very tasty with a well dressed side salad. Martin had fish of the day which he said was... More

After a bad experience at another establishment where I could not eat my meal, I expected a burger was going to be my lot. We chanced our arm at the Trading Rooms and they were able to accommodate a table for two although only I was dining (they had no problem with that). We were struck by the contrast in... More
