My partner and I went to lunch today, and I had been raving to him, about it, only to be bitterly disappointed. Considering Picton is the gateway to the South Island, Do Not order the mussels . I am ashamed to be a kiwi, ....The mussels were the tiniest I have ever seen, about a third of the size of my little finger and that is tiny, so much so, I was ashamed to be eating them. They were smaller than a pipi, I have to ask is it even legal.... Shame on you Oxleys, once upon a time the best place to eat, but not any more.More

So many town bistro pubs and restaurants could learn a lot from this gem. Friendly attentive and efficient staff, great wholesome tasty food, value for money and a really good atmosphere. Add in a fabulous location and you can’t go wrong.

Arrived at 5.30pm on a wintery Saturday night thinking we would beat the rush but Oxley’s was already packed! Very friendly welcome and we were accommodated despite the fact all the tables were reserved. Lovely sounding menu, super quick service. Fantastic steak and potatoes special...for a Saturday night and a lovely choice of desserts. Would definitely visit again next time we are in Picton.More

Lovely place to dine, unfortunately the fish batter was very dark brown and the fish tough. Tomato sauce rather than aioli didn't impress either.

Great ambience, restaurant was full but seated in the bar which was actually quieter. The staff are professional and accommodating. Menu was plentiful and for those not too hungry the small plates fits the bill. Especially liked thst after our shared entree the waiter asked...if we were ready for our mains to be cooked. Enjoyed our experience and will be back.More
