I had a great breakfast here this morning & decided to give another for dinner. The chicken fried steak was was awesome. The green beans tasted like they were fresh from the farm. The service is top-notch. Highly recommend it.

I absolutely love the menu at Founding Farmers. I vacillated between about ten menu items and was relieved when our personable and efficient server took our order. The menu has a meatless section, winter stews, soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches, seafood, and a huge selection...More

We've tried to make it to Founding Farmers several times in the past, with no luck. This time, we made a reservation two weeks in advance and cleared our schedule. It was a cold morning and we got to the restaurant early, just in case....More

To avoid waiting in line, better to make a reservation. We waited for almost an hour and was told that we could only stay in and eat for I think. 1.5 hrs which was ok. I never went into a restaurant to be told that...More

Came to Founding Farmers for dinner. Environment. This place is great. It is a two story establishment that seems very cozy. The decor focuses on cooking and there are multiple cookbooks that highlight the recipes that Founding Farmers serves. I did not buy one but...More

Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
