You know this place is amazing when their wait is kind of long every night. We made reservations and we are so glad we did. This was the BEST pot roast and chicken & waffles we've ever had! The homemade ice cream at the end...More

When I travel, I tend to not eat someplace more than once. I broke my rule with Founding Farmers. Be prepared to wait a while to be seated and to eat, but the food is worth it. If you want a bit more control with...More

We ate here and our server made this meal special. His name is Terrell and I hope if you eat there you will be as lucky as we were. Fun none acholic drinks for the kids and great adult beverages. Food was superb. But you...More

This place has had a lot of hype, and its good but much more causal than I expected. Unusual appetizer options and plenty of great main dish items its easy to see why this place is difficult to get into. I would go back again...More

Great atmosphere. The food was really great. The fried chicken and waffles were out of this world! My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie! This is the place for comfort food!

While difficult to get a table for our large family, the meal was fantastic. From the young in our party to the experienced diners, no one was disappointed. The room was a bit noisy for conversation, other than that, no complaints.

Founding Farmers was so good that we went twice while in DC on a business trip. It was very busy and we sat at the bar. The menu is eclectic and everything we tried was delicious. Highly recommended.

A friend recommended we meet there and she made the reservations. Definitely glad for the reservations since they were pretty busy at 6pm on a Monday night. Can't imagine how long the wait would be on a weekend.

You will definitely need reservations but we loved the food and service. The noise level was high but that is expected in a large restaurant with tables packed everywhere.

9-2. Make a reservation even on a weekday. I made one the night before for a Friday morning & was very glad I did. The wait would have been 45 min. Without the reservation.

Description
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
