I dined here on Mother's Day evening. So the restaurant had already had a very busy day. Vernon, our server was fantastic!!! He was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. There was a server or back waiter with him who served us our dessert who was very nice too. Thank you for a memorable dining experience. It was... More

We ate at the restaurant in the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel and had the best server, Vernon. He gave us great tips on the best items on the menu. He was a bit busy but took the time to stop and see how we were doing and engage us in conversation. The food was great and Vernon made the experience... More

Visited for a birthday meal--Vernon (top notch waiter) and the rest of the staff treated us with extraordinary care. Wonderful meal, and even better service. Very glad we came!

Just checked in to hotel and need lunch, so walked into Art & Soul and they were very friendly and accommodating. Lots of yummy choices on the menu, so hard to pick just one thing. I ended up with one of the salads and it was very good and my husband went the sandwich route. Servers were helpful, but "not... More

The food was excellent. We had some apps and they were a variety of delightfulness. But the service from the staff and management was the unique quality of Art and Soul. You feel like an actual individual human being, welcomed by friends, rather than by a friendly staff of stepford-somethings leading you to a table and a glass of water.... More

We opted to sit outside for brunch; it was really tasty and there were some creative choices on the menu in addition to the "regular" fare. Great coffee. The only negative was our service was a little lax. It appeared that they may have been a person short; seating was slow thought there were tables; Food came out quickly but... More

Went for Brunch on Sunday. The service was terrible. We had to ask for water as well as for our order to be taken. When I finally received their "eggs benedict", it was lukewarm and quite frankly nothing spectacular.

I always stay at the hotel across the street, so I eat there very time I'm in town. I had the Turkey Wrap for lunch and it was delicious. It was no problem getting fruit as a side instead of French Fries; and the beer tasted great on a warm, spring day. I'm certain I'll have many more meals there.

Went for Breakfast on Sunday while staying at the Liaison Hotel. The service was so bad it turned into brunch. Sat outside on the patio. Took almost an hour to get served a cup of coffee! A little itty bitty cup of coffee cost $4.25. Other people got refills. Not us. It's not like the place was crazy busy either.... More

Description
Just steps away from the U.S. Capitol, Art and Soul boasts an atmosphere of relaxed elegance and true southern hospitality. The Capitol Hill restaurant offers guests a seasonal and regionally inspired menu highlighting simple, honest food from local farms. The result of this approach is food that is straightforward and pays tribute to chefs Art Smith and Wes Morton’s southern roots and decades of Southern cooking. Chef Wes grew up in the kitchen, and his love for cooking can be traced back to Abeville, La., where every Sunday the family would gather for a lunch of southern food. Art and Soul carries out that tradition of sharing meals and bringing people together around the table.
