On a quick trip to D.C. We were recommended Sonoma for a great dinner, and the recommendation far exceeded the expectation! It was a close walk from the capital where we were staying close by. The hotel recommended we go here for dinner. You may need reservations for a bigger group, but just my mom and i, we got seated... More

This Gem of a restaurant is hidden in plain view just three blocks from the U.S. Capitol Building. Very trendy interior with a wonderfully sophisticated menu. There were four of us and each had a different entree. Although the dishes started as familiar Italian favorites, each was customized in a manner that "expanded my pallet's repertoire." My dish was "beyond... More

We ordered calamari and oyster starters with carne pizza and dry aged burger as main with parmisan chips. Draught beer looked good as the wine options were rather expensive. Mains arrived first. We advised the staff we had not received the starters and they offered to remake the mains later. We decided to cancel the starters as we hungry after... More

Good variety of entree options, good salads. I've eaten there many times and never had a complaint about the quality of the food. Nice atmosphere with the exposed brick and all, but maybe a bit on the loud side, and tables are very close together. Staff is friendly but not super-engaged.

We used to live in DC and had good meals at Sonoma. We were in-town and, after attending an event nearby, headed here for dinner. We took two stools at the bar. It wasn't a great experience. The restaurant needs to put up a curtain to keep the cold air out; who wants to sit at the bar of a... More

I can't speak to dinner but the lunch was rather good. The "Sonoma" BLT was nothing more than a rudimentary BLT the the Brussels sprouts side was amazing.

I dined here alone whilst on a short trip to DC for work. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Chicken Liver pate and butternut squash risotto. I asked for a white wine recommendation from the bar man and it was delicious.

If you are looking for a tasty lunch, great atmosphere and quick service, this restaurant works. Try their fried brussel sprouts. Very flavorful, not bitter or greasy. All of their salads are fresh, flavorful and combine an interesting combination of flavors and textures. Nice break if you're in a hurry but want something healthy. We sat by the window and... More

We had dinner with another couple before a performance at the nearby Folger Theater. It was "Restaurant Week" here in Washington DC so we decided to order from the special $35 three-course menu featured that week. What a mistake! Things at the restaurant started out poorly with the sullen hostess who seemed perplexed that we actually had a reservation. Next... More
