It may be because I had never heard of the famous Carmine's before we went there. While it is likely that Maggiano's copied Carmine's, Carmine's felt like a Maggiano's to me. Big family style dishes which were huge for a table of four. There was enough food for 5 or 6 people in each dish. Perhaps we ordered wrong, but... More

Carmine's has always been one of our favorite spots for my husband and me, lunch, dinner, or just a drink and some mussels before a Verizon show. So when some friends from out of town came to visit and we got out of a museum needing some food and a break, the first place I thought of was Carmines. David... More

Walked in at 2:15pm on a Sunday (2/19). The restaurant was at best 1/3rd full. We asked for a table and the hostess pointed to the bar tables and said seat yourself. I explained we would need a high chair which wouldn't work there and had two smaller children and would prefer an actual table. She said she had availability... More

We were definitely robbed of "family style" eating but certainly paid the price for it. $21 for 8 ravioli?!? And $12 for kids meal ($7 for appetizer-size plate of pasta and $5 for a drink)! Rather go to Maggianos. Better value and food quality. Two thumbs down.

Big portions, ordered two entries for four adults and still had some to take home. Wait staff very pleasant and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place. Note we had our concierge call ahead and make a reservation. Was told that the wait can be long.

To celebrate my wife's birthday we took a group of our family to Carmine's for a special treat. With wife, daughter, son-in-law and two adult granddaughters we arrived for an early dinner. We were promptly seated and our waiter, Mike gave us the "special guest" treatment. Following Mike's recommendations we all ordered drinks and appetizers, which were spot on. He... More

Unless you are in a group of 4 or more, this restaurant ends up being extremely expensive. My boyfriend and I stopped in and it ended up costing us almost $200 because everything is family style, enough for 4 people. We paid $30 for a salad that wasn't that great. The prime rib wasn't that great either. It's soaked in... More

Our first time at Carmines in DC. We went for lunch but it was over at 4pm (if I remember right). We were there like 15 minutes before the lunch menu ended. We were told that we could not order from the lunch menu at that time. We were not to happy but since we were running late and hungry... More

We had not been to Carmine's for several years and were looking forward to a return visit following an early afternoon Capitals hockey game at Verizon Center. It was also Superbowl Sunday. We expected the restaurant to be more crowded, but there were plenty of small tables available. At least three large family groups were celebrating birthdays and appeared to... More

Carmine's is a family style restaurant offering exceptional value to its guests through the many dishes of Southern Italian cuisine. The Carmine's concept is to bring its guests a "wow-factor" sized portions and making any meal feel like an Italian American wedding feast. Platters of homestyle antipasto, pasta, decadent seafood or meat entrees, and of course homemade desserts are all staples at Carmine's, meant for sharing amongst friends and family. When great food and wine are supported by friendly and knowledgeable service, the results are magic - we want every day to feel like a Sunday afternoon at Grandma's.
