We stopped by for a snack after visiting the Archives. Each of us ordered a different dessert and all five were devoured.

I had the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich and the tropezienne tarte. The sandwich was good, but the tarte blew me away. I am a changed woman after eating that tarte. I've never had anything so fresh.

A light breakfast, but a great selection of fesh baked goods and more. We had coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and several pastries. Everything was very good. All the staff were very friendly. Service was excellent.

The pastries are very good! Just as good as the one in Paris. I have not tried their sandwiches, but I will have to go back and try those!

It might be a stretch to say it is the same as being in France, but if you let the imagination get you, it can. It is a nice fine to have a place that feels like authentic coffee and pastries. The baguette sandwich was great and a throwback to a typical french baguette purchased on the street or a... More

GREAT lunch place (there are several in the DC area). The board at the entry always has a sandwich/soup, drink special as well as the soup special. We've had lunch at the one near Metro Center three times in the last couple of weeks. I've had the French Onion, Tomato Basil, and, recently, the Mushroom/Swiss soups and every one has... More

We arrived as they were unlocking the doors on a Sunday morning. They had a TV scrolling through special menu items as we walked through the door, so I decided to order one of them -- the eggs Florentine -- I was informed the did not have the spinach so I ordered eggs Benedict instead. It was the saddest looking... More

No visit to France in complete without frequent visits to Paul - especially in Paris, where they seem to be on almost every block. Now they are here in the US as well. The one on Pennsylvania Avenue is spacious, warm and inviting. Their croissants and other pastries are simply perfect. Paul offers a superb refuge for refreshment in a... More

I make the distinction in the headline because one of the friends traveling with us was expecting a coffee shop that served pastry and bread and such. No. And no again. This is styled after the shops of Paris with it selections of flaky croissants, authentic macarons (not coconut macaroons, by the way). It happens to serve coffee. Ask a... More

If you've visited Paris, you've surely had a delicious baguette or croissant or cup of cafe at Paul. What a treat to find it in DC! We dined at both the Penn Ave shops. Sandwiches, pastries, soups...all were delicious! And nice, comfortable and clean ambiance, as well.
