Loved the atmosphere. Very cool bookstore connected to restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. Named in tribute to Langston Hughes.

Definitely a local scene. But plenty of space to accommodate the out-of-towner. Had delicious salmon dinner there. And specially love that they had chocolate layer cake (with chocolate icing) on the menu. The latter is my weakness.

I was in DC for business for a few days and decided to try out Busboys and Poets for lunch. Fun ambiance and good food! I got the lamb sliders and a veggie side easily had enough for 2. Highly recommend if you are nearby and looking for a healthier option.

Noisy and crowded (in the good sense of the words) with a menu that is good for meat-eaters and vegetarions alike. Lots of salads, burgers, pizzas, and other kinds of casual dining. Pretty inexpensive with a very nice aand efficient staff and casual decor. Something for everyone. The bookshop portion is very small.

We needed a place to have a late dinner with out-of-town visitors, one of whom is a vegan and another of whom is gluten-intolerant, within walking distance of a metro station. Busboys and Poets filled the bill superbly. There are many vegan and many gluten-free menu choices. Our food was excellent and the service was good. We enjoyed the casual... More

There is a lot going for this place. The atmosphere is great--funky restaurant with a small bookstore attached. We went for brunch, and browsed the books with our buzzer for half an hour before we were called. Fine. We all ended up going for the lunch menu rather than the breakfast menu. I got the Cuban panini, which had great... More

3 for dinner. Wait was about 30 min then another 15 for a waiter. Then it got good. The Lift and Get Away cocktails were good. We had the Reuben and chicken quesadilla as well as the hummus appetizer All were extremely good and portions were large. Attentive waitress

We visited a friend in D.C. & asked her to pick out the restaurant.... something we wouldn't have at home. She took us here & we loved everything about it. It was upbeat, great ambiance, & wonderful service. We loved everything that we ordered. My kids got margherita pizzas, hubby got the chicken salad sandwich, & I got the blackened... More
