When you realize that this restaurant chain is named for the young, 1920's "busboy/poet" Langston Hughes, then you get the ambience, the food and the politics. I loved it. The menu had a lot of variety, with salads, sandwiches and other stuff that I haven't seen elsewhere. The sweet potato fries were yummy! The pecan pie was very tasty too.... More

The bread pudding was delicious! Everything was very good. We went on Friday and there was no wait. On Saturday we returned for more but it was very busy. Tasty food, cultural atmosphere.

Staying near the convention center looking for a less run-of-the-mill breakfast. Saw the great reviews and came here. Not disappointed. Love the vibe and the philosophy of Bb&P. Delicious omelette and great Bloody Mary. Service a little slow, but on a lazy Sunday morning this just gave us more time to talk. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Food and drink was amazing but the service was not great. Left waiting for 20 minutes even though plenty of tables were free to be seated at. Server was not the most pleasant, but probably due to a possible understaffing issue as all servers were extremely busy.

No Reservations accepted but it was a great place to go and decent place to eat. We waited about 30 minutes for a table but there's a nice selection of books to check out while you're waiting and a bar to sit at if you can find a seat definitely go back the food was great we had some vegan... Heard that this was a great place to stop in for. We had a great time. The bartender did a wonderful job with making our drinks the way we like them. The food was good also. Definitely a place to visit when in DC.

Interesting concept and larger restaurant space than I thought. The food is ok , and more suitable for lunch than dinner. My catfish was a large portion and good, didn't care for the accompaniments though What's more special is the bookstore attached. It's tiny, but has enough good and current books. I even bought a book I wanted Rating 3... More

We found this place by mistake. When we walked in we almost left because it looked too casual. So happy we stayed. The food was amazing. The lamb burger was terrific. The desserts were awesome. Maybe the best pecan pie I have ever had

When I visit big cities it is always nice to visit some local restaurants and especially if they have full gluten free options. We didn't know what to expect with this restaurant but they had some great menu options and great reviews so we gave it a go. It did NOT disappoint. Fried chicken with gravy that are BOTH gluten...
