1st of all, they offered a $20 RW wine pairing--what a unique, fabulous idea. All restaurants should consider this concept. Felix was an excellent server. We both started with the corn soup. My wife had the duck confit main and panna cotta dessert. I had...More

This was our first time visiting 1789 and it is now our absolute "go-to" for special evenings out while in the DC area. The cuisine was impeccable from hors d'oeuvre to dessert and everything in between. The location bursts with history and celebrity appeal. We...More

Our last nite in DC was capped with a fabulous dinner in this Georgetown Gem. Exterior is under restoration but the interior is a traditional décor with fireplaces, burning candles on every table and decorative china. The service was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious and...More

Romantic dinner that was exceptional. We did the Chef tasting with the wine pairing. Each course was exceptional and the Somm did a fabulous job with the pairing. I highly recommend this restaurant! It's not inexpensive but it is worth it.

Overpriced "art" food. Nice setting, though a touch stuffy. Nice waiters. Very small menu. All a la carte. If you're a mini eater, with tons of money to burn, and like medium taste.... I'm a foodie & this wasn't even close to worth it.

1789 Restaurant is high-priced fine-dining; however, we got what we paid for here. We dined in a quiet corner of the green room. The room had a quiet relaxing atmosphere; the food was incredibly delicious; and we were given attentive service by our waiter who...More

I had no jacket, but most men did. And, the restaurant was a bit cold. I must add that the food was really mediocre, so I would recommend against going, no matter how you're dressed.
