Had been there in past but felt service and good quality has slipped. They make a big deal of fresh guacamole made table which is good but small portions. Grilled shrimp was good but all in all felt that you pay a lot for what you get. Also red sangria was not very good. The white sangria was much better.

Slow and very bad service! Not worth the walk! Never did get our food after waiting an hour and a half! Never again!! Please don't waist your families precious time like I did!

We stopped in for a late lunch after the Spy Museum (which is one block away). We did not have a reservation but were seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy but the service was good and the noise level was fine. There were families with small kids, families with teens, couples, groups of friends, all seemed to be welcome... We met up with some friends for dinner and it was excellent. The atmosphere and the wait staff were wonderful. I would highly recommend Rosa Mexicano.

We were going to a show at the Shakespeare Company down the street and made the mistake of deciding to eat in the area before the show--forgetting it was the hockey team's home game, across the street. Rosa's was swamped, but we found a space for two at the back bar and got excellent, friendly service from Seday at the... More

Food is good! The guacamole now got so expensive, 16dollars! But that's one of the reason why we ate there. I treated my high school friend from abroad and he said, food is great, guacamole was the best.

Despite the large crowds, Rosa Mexicano offered the usual excellent food and great service. I never go to DC without visiting Rosa Mexicano; in fact, I remember first going there after a women's march in 2004. Great vibe. High quality food at reasonable prices. Creative drinks.

We arrived over 20 minutes early for a 6:15PM reservation and while we saw people (apparently without a reservation) waiting to get in we were quickly seated. We really enjoyed the guacamole (specified it without jalapenos) which is one of the house specialties. Our meal selections were Tres Enchiladas and Carnitas and we loved them. My wife had a glass... This was the perfect location to watch protesters out on the street - the Hotel Monaco was holding the OK State Inaugural Ball and the Pipeline protesters were out in full force. Besides that entertainment, the food was good - quite different than your typical Mexican restaurant. Pomegranate margaritas are great - though quite small for the price The ambiance... More

We have been fans of this small chain for a long time, and were disappointed when one closeby to us closed several years ago. We'd eaten at this location in 2010, which we didn't recall until entering the restaurant and recognizing the decor and layout. We were seated immediately - we did have reservations. The house Margaritas were excellent as... More

Description
Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.
