My wife and I always get mussels in white wine, but I think they took them off the menu recently, but lamb meatballs or burger is always a good choice. The place is small, so evenings and weekends can take a while to get a table. If that's the case, you can check out the bookstore Politics & Prose next... More

We were meeting friends in Chevy Chase and needed a place with a good menu and good food, that was great for adults and kids alike. We enjoyed our evening so very much. The food was really quite good, the service mostly very good, and the menu was excellent in its offerings. We also had a lot of fun, and... More

Average at best. Over priced. Small up-scaled menu. Took forever to order a soda. Took even longer to receive the drink. It was very crowded on a week day night. It's theme is??? I don't know. Trying too hard to be hipster and outdoorsy? The double fried French fries were outstanding. The burger was so completely average for $15.00. There... More

You can read about Buck's in the Washington Post, as it's usually one of the critic's top choices of the year. It's unique because it's very casual and suited to serious foodies. The menu changes daily, but things like the iceberg lettuce with bacon and bleu cheese, as well as the fried oysters, seem to be there all the time.... More

Not much on hand so we made a last minute reservation and walked over to Buck's. It is restaurant week and they weren't crowded. We ordered a glass of wine and two salads. The cob salad is very good and my wife likes the caesar salad with anchovies. We both had the small steak. They were cooked perfectly and were... More

I got what was called lamb stew, described as being full of lamb, potatoes, and white beans. Sounded like a good hearty meal. The server knew I was hungry and gave the order approval. Unfortunately, it was not stew at all. It was weak white bean soup in a shallow dish with literally one bite-sized piece of potato and a... More

Interesting mix of foods. The fish and crab cakes were delicious. Especially loved the bone marrow appetizer and the lamb stew.

This is another neighborhood mainstay, which my wife and I have more than 100 times frequented over ten years. Buck's has many unique features -- in particular, it's layout with a large center table and it's decor with a canoe hanging from the ceiling -- but I go there mainly for the food, which is outstanding. The menu somewhat limited,... More
