I don't like to give a negative review to anybody because I understand how hard they must work but our experience here was "just okay." I had the burger and fries, my wife had steak fajitas. The burger was fine but my wife's steak fajitas had a very "charcoaly or smokey" flavor...like, way too much smoke or charcoal...she couldn't even... More

Had all dinners here since it is the closest to Pelican Reef at a 2 block walk. Loved the Quesadillas and their Pico de Galla. For beer - Belekin. The owner gave my wife and I a ride back to the resort one night when it was raining.

A good place if you are hungry for some honest food! Really generous portions distinguish Lone Star: great value for money. The (delicious) taco salad is, for example, enough for two people. The desserts are also worth trying. Would be excellent for families - lots of kid friendly options.

You have touched on a number of important philosophies of ours ... quality ingredients and large portions equal a great meal at a great value. I loved their fish sandwich, stuffed jalapenos, drinks and avocado salad with grilled shrimp. I asked for my fish sandwich to be blacken even though it was not listed as an option and they were accommodating. Shout out to Himey he was a great guy.

Great restaurant with really good tex-mex food. Conch fritters are the best on the island. Lobster tacos were very good. Didn't leave hungry. And their drinks are also VERY good! Have a rum punch and enjoy.

I have lived in Texas for a long time now and tex mex is my favorite. After reading other reviews I thought we couldn't go wrong. Had the chicken fajitas was very underwhelming, the guacamole was not fresh made even though we had avocados everywhere else we ate. Perhaps it was just a bad night....

Hi Kirsten, Thanks for your review. Sorry to hear that your experience did not live up to expectations. As you mention, the reviews we get are normally very positive. In my experience (we have only owned Lone Star since February), our guests from Texas have been especially complimentary of our food, and the Fajitas (no matter the protein) have always... More

Five of us ate here three times during our week's stay cause of the variety in the menu and tasty results. Many Mexican options all were pleasing. The waiter and other staff are cordial and willing to please. I had a grouper sandwich for lunch--about 5 small pieces fried to perfection. All fish offerings were delicious. Definitely a return-to place.... More

We ate here the first night on Ambergris Caye and the food was just what we were looking for! After that, we got margaritas to go almost every day! Loved the people working there and of course the margaritas! Very fresh!

We stayed directly a cross the street at a a great place called Athens Gate. We ate here the day before Hurricane Earl hit and the food and service were top notch. Plenty of food. We left 4 days after the storm and it still had not reopened although everything looks like it withstood the storm well. Not sure if... More

Hi Cheepskates, Thanks for your review and we are very pleased that you enjoyed your experience with us. The palapa area was under water after Hurricane Earl and it took us a few days to bring everything back to an acceptable standard, but we were otherwise unscathed from a structural standpoint. We reopened on the Saturday ... likely the day... More

Party of 12 in May 2016. I had Conch Fritters and grilled grouper. One of the best meals I had on the island. This is pretty much your last, good option on the south end of the island. Unfortunately, you cannot see the ocean from here.
