Best fine dining in Athens. Great feel. The staff is wonderful! And the chef is always on point. The National is our favorite place to go for date night.

Date night/Birthday dinner. We put on our affluent middle class uniforms (we are at the age where wearing socks is a fashion statement), and headed for The National. Previously we had made reservations using their on-line service, and it worked perfectly. When we arrived, they...More

The food was very good, but over priced.. Service was great -- prompt and attentive. We found the menu underwhelming, and just not worth the prices.

Chef Peter is such a caring, giving person. In a recent fund-raiser he offered a multi=-course set menu featuring Spanish dishes. Extraordinary meal at a very fair price. My husband goes there so often we call The National his Office.

We easily got a Sunday night reservation because students had not returned to the university. The National makes its own tonic which my daughter assured me was delicious. We ate the Tapas and some small plates which made for a reasonably priced meal for 2....More

Sunday nights are a great time to join us for dinner! Thrilled that you were able to enjoy a variety of our vegetarian tapas. A shared meal is at the best meal, we think.

I appreciate a restaurant that, not only has terrific food, but also has a nice quiet atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation. That's why I liked The National. Good drinks, inventive food and a chill environment.

I am in Athens 6-8 times a year and always dine here. Food is as good as any other restaurant I have ever visited. Friendly, attentive, yet unpretentious service. Great bar w equal wine list

During a conference in Athens, decided to try something a bit more pricey. The National delivered high value and incredible dining experience with Mediterranean fusion cuisine with a Southern flair emphasizing farm-to-table ingredients. Started with a PImms Cooler #2, with Pimm's, blueberry-white wine reduction, gin,...More

Hi Mike! We do not have private parking. There is street parking available and decks downtown on Washington Street and College Ave. We don't have a dress code!

We do take reservations! You can call 706-549-3450 or email us. We don't require reservations, but we do recommend making them as our restaurant is small and tends to fill up quickly when it gets busy. However we always... More

Description
Open for lunch Monday - Saturday and dinner daily; our bar also remains open for coffee and tapas during the day 2:30 - 5pm.

The idea behind The National is simple: to provide a casual neighborhood gathering spot reminiscent of the bars and cafés we’ve enjoyed on travels to Europe. Mediterranean inspired food and wine is served for lunch and dinner in the dining room and throughout the day at the bar. While our menu points to culinary traditions from abroad, we value our local farmers and our dishes reflect the changing seasons in Northeast Georgia.
