I was torn between Good and Very Good, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. The steak was cook just the way I like it, medium but lacked the flavor to give it a very good rating. The bread and salad was a great complement to the meal. I will say the service was very good along with... More

Went here because we heard they had great steaks and were not disappointed. Be prepared for a wait even if you call and get on the list especially on weekend nights. Bar small but quaint. Service great and the food rocked!! Great onion rings, and steak melted in your mouth. Will visit again

Very cool place to visit. We had the brunch on Sunday. Staff was very friendly, the biscuits and gravy were amazing. The French dip was good. And the French toast was pretty good too.

Big Steer reminded me that "family restaurants" could serve more than fried chicken by hurried waitresses. This unplanned stop was more than I expected--a Bloody Mary with fresh horseradish and lemon, ribs that were soft and the right amount of sweet and saucy. The co-owner Sherry helped my kids pick out coloring pages and our waiter Cole was pleasant and... More

We visited Big Steer for the first time last week. It was wonderful. We had ribeye and filet tips deburgo. Both were perfect. Our salad and warm bread were wonderful as well. Next time I will try to house dressing which I hear is wonderful.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn just down the road & the front desk lady sent us to Big Steer for dinner. We split the Tomahawk Rib Eye steak & it was exceptional! Perfectly cooked & the salad & sides were delicious. Our waitress was lovely & the restaurant itself was quite busy but we didn't feel rushed - just... More

I have eaten there twice so far. Prime rib once and Filet the other time. Prepared exactly as requested and great service. Small place and the décor is quite retro but, it was delicious.

This is one of the better places to eat in the Des Moines area. Great steaks, ham, and other things as well. Try the "house" dressing on your salad. It's the best in town.

Place is great for steak, plus other entries. We have been there with family and as a couple. Very accommodating to those with physical challenges. Great service but busy on Friday night
