Hickory Park is the place to go when you visit Ames. Great barbecue, great atmosphere, and you can't leave this place without having their fantastic selections of ice cream sundaes.

Went for dinner had a 45 minute wait but our waitress was so nice. We told her we were from CT and she gave us the most popular items. My daughter got the malt which was great. We got the fried cheese balls I liked and we both got the saucy southerner which my daughter really liked, I thought it... More
We love the hustle and bustle of the huge Hickory Park restaurant. Even better? The delicious ribs! Yum! Plus there is a sundae menu, if you save room.

My husband and I went to Hickory Park in January at about 5:30 pm. Usually they are very busy and you have to wait, this trip we did not have to wait. We were not only seated promptly are order was taken and our food arrived quickly. Even if you have to wait, the food is great!

This restaurant is one of our all-time favorites from since our College days. Has great barbecue food and ice cream desserts at great prices. Service is very good but beware it is often busy and you are herded like cows.
The food is decent and the prices are reasonable but I honestly don't see what all the fuss it about. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? I got a pulled pork bbq sandwich for lunch and wasn't really impressed.
