Outside looks like a rundown shack; inside just a few tables. Very cold in winter. However, food is very good with unique and authentic regional choices. Portions are plentiful and prices very affordable.

This place has been here in various incarnations for what, 35 years? Used to have good mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, moo goo gai pan as the Wok Inn. Current mongolian beef only average, didn't try the moo goo gai pan, and they said they don't make sweet and sour pork!? Sweet corn and pork was decent, a few... More

First, this is a cash only place. No checks, no credit cards. The prices are OK 8 bucks a meal for the ming's beef. The food came out hot, fresh, tasty but a tad spicier than I like. And there was plenty of food. The atmosphere is same as it has been for years. But its the food that I... More

I don't know if the reason so many of the chinese/vietnamese/japenese restaurants in Ames are Cash ONLY because they don't trust college students, don't want to pay the credit card fee or just like the ability cash affords one on tax day. Really aggrevating in this day and age. Service was poor, food was tasteless, no fortune cookies. For an... More

My 11 year old son begged to stop here, as we were driving by. This was not a planned visit, but - it was a nice visit. Looks small from the outside, not fancy - causal dress is fine. Tables reminded me of a basic diner, but - it was clean and neat. Order, pay, then sit down. Food is... More

Their food is great but for a change they have 2 menus. One for the average customer that wants great food and another to get the food that is authentic to the region. There are specials that are worth the visit. The decor is ok but the food makes up for it.

May house has been there for over 20 years now. They are fast and cheap. Portions are huge, but tastless. IF your a college student on a budget you'd go here. I find HTC better.
