Our visit to NUR was lovely. However, it started out other than expected: We planned on going for dinner, but as soon as we approached the restaurant, which is hidden behind an inconspicuous, blank massive door, a merchant approached us claiming the restaurant was closed. He led us to another place instead – and of course that was a scam.... More

Tucked away in the depths of the labyrinth that is the Fes Medina, Nur was a unique culinary experience to savour. The chef, Najat, is exceptional, elevating food to an art form, and the customer service warm and illuminating, with Charles explaining the intricacies of each dish. There was no menu, they brought out 6 courses, the highlight (in a... More

After a week and a half of Tagines, this was a welcome meal! It was excellently crafted food. Brava to the chef. I really enjoyed this dining experience. I would say it's definitely contemporary cuisine with a splash of traditional Moroccan flare. The restaurant is also relatively easy to find compared to everything else in the medina (the location on... More

Was traveling solo and came here for Christmas dinner. Had an 8 course meal with a bottle of wine. Price was totally worth it. The food and service was fantastic! You will feel the luxury of a fine dining restaurant once you walk in. Decor was beautiful. Staff and chef was amazing and attentive. Highly recommend and will come again.

Najat Kaanache is reimagining Moroccan cuisine in fascinating ways. A Moroccan view of fine dining without doing so through a French lense. Najat is exploring the culinary roots that Morocco, Spain and Mexico share. Traveling with her for an evening is getting aboard a sensory journey. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The food is thoughtful and delicious. Every plate we polished off. And every plate after another was fresh and clean ingredients. It was a fixed menu with about 8 dishes, well proportioned for 8. One of my favorite was a small hen roasted, topped with a mole. I pride myself in having eaten some of the best mole in Mexico... More

It was my first visit to Nur and I'd been told by friends how good the chef was. Najat Kaanache's food did not disappoint. I was there with a friend for lunch, so we had two courses from a possible eight on the taster menu - both were extremely delicious, interesting and complex in their flavour combinations. We had the... More

I went to the place with a friend of mine. At first we were dazzled by the beauty of the place's architecture. staff was super nice and welcoming, manager explaining every dish to us as it came. The course we took was composed of 6 dishes of amazing food. Every dish was totaly different from the other yet they were... More

Our Riad recommended nur as being under new management and the chef fusing surprising flavours. At the start we were told by the maître de that the only option was eight course degustation menu costing 700 dirhams per head which is extremely expensive for Fes. When we called for the bill he added 20 percent tax which was never discussed... More

Description
NUR Restaurant is situated in the heart of the fes medina: the cradle of Moroccan gastronomy. The medina is filled with local markets offering a cornucopia of seasonal flavours. From tiny, thin-skinned lemons to sumptuous white mulberries, wild thistle hearts and salted, pickled plums, bunches of sage, mint and coriander, live chickens and camel's milk, it is a feast for senses on every level. The goal of NUR (Arabic for "light") is to shine a light on playful Moroccan cuisine.
