We came here on a group tour with a pre-set menu, which was roast lamb with salt and curry spices and bread served in a common dish. Another dish of olives and hot sauce was served on the side. There were no serving utensils, plates, or table service. We were expected to pull the lamb apart and eat it with... More

Popped in about 8 pm and were surprised that so many tables were empty (especially after reading all the rave reviews). Climbed all the way to the top staircase where we enjoyed a view of the square at dark. There was one menu option: lamb tangia. We ordered two, and were brought a bowl of bread, chopped Moroccan salad, and... More

Great place for a proper Moroccan meal, I ordered the lamb tanjina and the beef tagine both were so tasty, up there with the best I have ever had. The price are cheap and the quality of good very good, great service couldn't complain about a thing 100% will be back

Don't be put off by the display of sheep heads - this is the spot to try Tanjina. Tasty - but very rich - one small Tanjina ( I recall D 70) with salad and bread is enough for 2 people. If you are still hungry pop into one of the food stalls at the market and eat another small,... More

Located in a small alley right off the main square, easy to miss but you shouldn't. There are 4 or 5 restaurants next to each other serving the same food. They roast tons of lambs in underground pits (unfortunately not on the week we were there) and make the best tanjia (70dh), a type of lamb tagine. They also serve... More

Hadj Mustapha is a large hole in the wall spread over 3 floors near one of the entrances to the souk off Jemaa El Fna (look out for the olive sellers). If you are looking for a plush air-conditioned restaurant this is not the place for you. It was teeming with locals(my marker for a good local meal) and that... More

Went to Haj Mustapha with a friend and was highly disappointed. Great views from the rooftop, but the food we ordered (Marrakechian tajine and 1/2 kg lamb) was not particularly tasty. The meat was cold and flavourless, in general very uninviting.

One of the best moroccan cuisine in Marrakech with excellent barbecue and Tanjia. Very good value for money.

If you are just looking for simply amazing food you must try this place. Definitely nothing pretty or romantic about the venue but the tanjia is so good!! There's not much choice but for 70dh you can get a light meal for 2 or a big meal for 1. You didn't need a knife the meat simply fell off the... More

There are 3 places that serve the best roast lamb IN THE WORLD. I am not kidding. One is at a little restaurant in the desert near the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, about 300 km from Zahedan, the border between Iran and Pakistan. The second is the the Cordero al Asador in any parilla in Patagonia where the secret... More
