This unassuming Tibetan restaurant serves up wholesome and tasty food that even those on the tightest budget can afford. The restaurant itself is a little dingy, but don't let that put you off. I have eaten here on half a dozen occasions and have never been disappointed. My favourite dish is vegetable momo soup. You get 10 steamed monos in... More

Came here for our evening meal and we were not disappointed. There was a good mix of locals and tourists in the restaurant. The dal-bhat was very good as was the other food. The staff were very friendly.

Authentic Sherpa/Tibetan cuisine that you have to search to find, but well worth the effort. Great food at a more than reasonable price. Try the Momo Soup, brilliant!

I was introduced to this restaurant by local people. When I was having my lunch at 3p.m. there were still some local people eating there, too. I ordered beef with potato and rice. It was delicious at reasonable price. If you have a chance to be at Thamel, give it a try, you won't disappoint.

A well eatery Tibetan restaurant in town. This is the most famous restaurant which serves authentic Tibetan foods. The Sizzler momos are so nice. I will come back soon to have the great taste again.

I visited this restaurant on my last day in Kathmandu, and straight after the first bite of my food I regretted why I didn't come there earlier. I passed by the restaurant almost daily!! Oh well... Anyways, if you happen to be in Kathmandu, do yourself a favor and eat there. You won't regret it, really. The restaurant was very... More

My husband and I loved Gilingche. We ate there several times during our stay in Kathmandu. Every single dish we had was delicious. I'd definitely recommend the thenthuk as well as the thongba (thungba).

I visited this restaurant together with my friend Upendra from Himalayan Leisure, Inc. This is a small restaurant, separate smoking and non-smoking zones. He ordered Thenthuk and I gave it a try as well, it was awesome! Very hot, very tasty and very hot! Can recommend it to other travelers!
