I fail to understand the reasoning to why there are negative reviews for this venue. You are having Japanese food in NEPAL not TOKYO...Under the circumstances the THREE meals we had were all excellent with great service. The lady owner Makosan was there every time...More

... as our expectations were totally exceeded. One should definitely not compare eating Japanese food in Japan or where you can get fish caught only some hours ago. Under the local circumstances our dinner just made fun, suhsi, the famous spinach, teppanyaki and ALL the...More

We were at Mako's for dinner last February and enjoyed this Chef's restaurant, located among the beautiful and relaxing gardens of Dwarika's Hotel in Kathmandu. It is chic and trendy, with an extremely gentle service. We ordered missoshiro (soy) soup with tofu cheese, beef "sukiyaki...More

A charming Japanese place in the Dwarika's hotel. Especially enjoyed their teriyaki and they Salmon. Service was attentive. Will visit again.

Great service and an interesting selection of menu items. Sushi may not be as fresh as Japan but then the fish has to be flown into the Himalayas. Inside or outside dining.

Me and my Husbend stayed the night in the Dwarikas hotel. We were tired and went to eat in the Makos hotel's restaurant. We didn't expect much. Living in NYC we have very high standards as per Japanese cuisine. It was just a wonderful dinner....More

Mako's is one of 3 restaurants in the excellent Dwarika's Hotel (the other two are a Nepali restaurant called Krishnarpan, and an "international" restaurant called Toran). This very friendly restaurant serves very authentic Japanese food in the tranquil haven of the Dwarika's hotel which is...More

Tried for a late dinner and were impressed. The place is calm with a relaxing ambience. Service was attentive and understanding. We tried chicken yakitori that was fairly good (some gristle on the pieces of chicken) and a chicken Teryaki that was among the best...More
