Great little place opposite Wat Po for a beer, light lunch or snack. Clean with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Perfect when the heat gets to you and you need a break.

The food is very good and the atmosphere is friendly and casual. Just opposite the Wat Pho, the location offers an excellent break when visiting the temples. The only downside might be that it is a cash-only restaurant.

Stumbled into this inviting-looking little place after a few hours at Wat Pho. It's conveniently located between Wat Pho and Tha Tien pier, and clearly relies on tired and hungry tourists seeking a place to relax and refuel. It gets busy, has a high turnover, and while staff are not pushy this is not the place for endless lingering. Service... More

Ate lunch here after Wat Pho since it was close and the food was very good. We were with our tour guide so she helped us order but even if she wasn't there, I'm sure whatever we would have ordered would have been great.

The food here was great and cheap even though it's right next to a big tourist attraction. I ordered a green curry and my sister ordered fried rice with chicken. Both were great and my curry wasn't too spicy at all. The customer service there could be better though. The waitress was on her phone the whole time even when... More

Started pouring rain so we slipped into this little cafe and it did not disappoint! Fried spring rolls were very very good, sparkling water was outstanding and they have free internet, perfect!

We visited the Rub Aroon today for lunch. It was a random visit as the heavens were about to open so we ducked inside.. The decor was nice, very Western and the place was full of Westerners, not really surprising as it's right next to the reclining Buddha temple. I had (something similar to) a Thai green curry and my... More

Right on the doorstep of the Tha Tien pier and near Wat Pho massage, this is a beacon of breath air after a long day doing the cultural sights around Wat Pho. Open-fronted converted shopfront with hand-made recycled palette furniture with cushions, easy Thai menu and wifi, what's not to like?

Try the fruit shakes in this nice little bar. Watermelon, mango and coconut shakes are great when you're thirsty. Well maintained interior with old cabinet and items from the past on display.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
