Typically, I like to try restaurants outside the hotel I am staying in. Giorgio’s in the Royal Orchid Sheraton remains a nice option, especially if it raining. This is an attractive restaurant with excellent views of the Chao Phraya river. It tends to be busy, so reservations are advised. Beginning with a nice dry gin martini, I moved on to... More

The restaurant is nice but the food is a bit hit and miss. I ordered the Risotto with truffles which was absolutely superb - my partner however ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese which was very ordinary. Although wine is fairly expensive in Thailand - compared to Australian prices - we ordered a lovely New Zealand red which was delightful. The only... More

I ordered a pizza with spicy salami, tomatoes, mozzarella, capers, anchovy and chilli. The pizza is so salty, I returned it and asked the manager to take it to the chef and let the chef try it. The chef admitted that the pizza is too salty. The manager was very polite, he cancelled the bill and gave me a free... More

Went twice. The first time, I had the ravioli which were quite authentic. I went back a second time and ordered the veal. It was thick and covered in an unappetizing glutinous sauce. My colleague had the osso bucco that was covered in the same sauce. Just can't recommend.

Four of us had a lovely dinner outside along the river. Basic Italian food - very good value - with a nice red wine. If you are missing some basic Italian food - good place to have dinner after a long day of touring!

The restaurant currently only opens in the evenings. Although it is quite an old establishment inside the hotel, the service and food are still up to standard. They run a dinner buffet at only Baht 750++ with extensive choice of antipasto and desserts. Main course has choices of meat, fish or pasta. My husband ordered chicken and he was very... More

Four of us visited this lovely place in the evening. Overall experience was great. Risotto was yummy as well as other dishes. For dessert, we had cheesecake and tiramisu. Tiramisu was somewhat disappointed (Buca's Dibeppo in Chicago was much better). But we liked the rest so it wasn't too shabby.

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
