Wanted to go here on my first trip to Bangkok, but did not work out. Luckily on second trip I got to go with a group of local friends. The food is truly amazing (daring, delicious and authentic), the view is beautifull and you feel welcome in way you never/extremely rarely do in a restaurant. LOVED IT and have alteady... More

Florian and Goi were amazing host! The place has an awesome view for the river and everything from drinks to desert were delicious. We had an amazing time with interesting people. We recommend it if you want a different experience in a typical house of a local.

The flavors of the dishes were definitely delicious but nothing an Asian childhood has not seen. If you grew up with a bottle of fish sauce in your pantry, definitely skip! We were fortunate to have this scrumptious dinner in the home of Florian, an engaging Austrian, and his gifted wife Kat, a Thai chef. Their apartment, in swishy Chinatown, overlooks the river with commanding views at night. We shared a table with a couple from Hong Kong, a young American couple traveling the world, and other compatible guests. There is... More

We visited Florian and his family last week having been recommended by a good friend, who was anxious how we would feel about it !! Her and her husband had visited previously and loved it.....well it certainly wasn't a disappointment !! We met Florian outside the Sheraton hotel and as warned trekked off down several back streets to his apartment... More

This was our second visit to Nang Gin Kui and Florian and Goy made our first night back in Bangkok very memorable. It was so special to be welcomed back into their home for a wonderful evening of food and wine. The courses just kept on coming and wine just kept on flowing. The views from the flat are spectacular... More

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
