Located on the verandah at the Oriental Hotel Bangkok separate from the adjoining verandah outside restaurant is the Ciao Italian restaurant serving outstanding food again in a stunning setting, not massive portions but really good food, only downside was the smirking sullen and downright rude wandering chef walking around the tables trying to tempt diners to try a more expensive... Ciao, the Mandarin Oriental's Italian restaurant, (open Nov-Mar only, I believe) is in a glorious setting on the terrace overlooking the river. The food is more than adequate but the location is what makes it special. The helpings generally are rather more modest than the prices. It's not the best Italian food in Bangkok, nor the most generous, but the... More

Ciao is an Italian restaurant set by the Cha Phraya river at the Mandarin Oriental. It offers evening dining with many options of Italian food. The food was well presented and was good - not exceptional but great for casual dining.

Our favourite restaurant at the hotel - so visited it twice. Standard of service and food same on both visits - superb!. Could not believe how good their Lasagna was - probably best ever had. Lots of little additional touches including welcoming drink, visit from Chef and after meal drinks. Whole experience was fabulous.

This is some of the best Italian food I have had outside of Italy. The food was so fresh. Also the view was spectacular. It was so good we came back 3/6 nights we were in Bangkok.

The ambiance is fantastic and the service is impeccable. I had the ravioli and it was fantastic. This is a great find to enjoy an evening on the river at a top place. I would recommend this far superior than taking a dinner cruise on the river.

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
