The reviews here are pretty mixed, but we thought we'd give it a shot. The setting is undoubtedly an appeal. A stunning old colonial house, and a restaurant with a rich and successful history. We ordered from the a la carte menu and the food was predominantly good. The appetisers were fine - if unspectacular. The starters pretty standard -... More

Stunning restaurant, and I think the best Thai food in Bangkok, however the service Very pushy and an outrageously expensive wine list

We stumbled across the Blue Elephant without a reservation and were able to be seated. It was excellent, the service and quality of food were the best we had in Bangkok. Lovely table service and appointments. The dining room is charming and so well appointed. I had the vegetarian offerings, my husband had fish. Try the coconut rice if you... More

Setting themselves to be one of the top tier restaurants in the restaurant world without ever receiving a Michelin star or top recognition from food/beverage critic, you can't be so pretentious for who you are! There's a saying goes, "One rotten fish will spoil and kill the entire school of fish in the tank." One poor attitude, low performance from... More

After being wow'ed by a few other Thai eateries (check out my reviews). The Blue elephant lunch was so mediocre, I could taste the boredom coming out from the kitchen, served with the pride of a tour group host. I couldn't even name the food I ate, it's so boring and not well done. Duck was tough and dry, fish... More

This restaurant can be found in several major cities around the world and here in Bangkok it did not disappoint. The ginger martini was served in an oversized martini glass and was perfect. The coconut soup with chicken and lime...very nice. The vegetable spring rolls were standard. Then we shared a stir fry of cashew with chicken, a pad thai... More

Very nice ambiance and great food makes the Blue Elephant a winner. Friendly, professional service compliments the experience. The duck breast was some of the best I have had. Wife had the sea bass which was also very good. Menu has clear indication of the "heat" level of Thai food.

It was our last night in Thailand and we wanted to have the perfect dinner to cap it all off. Without question, The Blue Elephant was a perfect choice. The restaurant is inside a gorgeous old building with intimate dining rooms throughout. From the moment we were greeted at the door by the maitre d/manager to the moment we left... More

This is the best Thai food I've experienced in Bangkok. We had a wide range of spice tolerance within and group of 8 and everyone had an enjoyable meal! The green chicken curry is incredible!!! The restaurant is beautiful - an old Thai house transformed into a unique dining atmosphere. And the service was 5 star. Our server, Chanya, was... More

The restaurant is located in one of the well preserved colonial teak houses of Bangkok and it is a gem. On the ground floor the place hosts the restaurant and a shop selling their merchandise, the first floor is divided into bar and restaurant and the second floor is where cooking classes are held. The menu offers a very diverse... More

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
