Went to the restaurant for the celebration of anniversary. Upon the arrival of Mandarin Oriental (we took the shuttle boat from Peninsula), you can see how great the hotel and hospitality is. Being escorted to the restaurant and greeted by the smart gentlemen from the restaurant. The interior design is very classic and romantic in a luxurious manner. It was... More

Somehow something was missing in food this time, I guesses there's no differences of tastes between courses, it's just not exquisite and without the picture I will remember the dishes. Anyway, I can not believe myself rating this place just 'very good' because it was always excellent. SERVICE: there's no words for it, still excellent, to die for, to cry... More

We visited for dinner on Boxing Day during a stay at the hotel. The setting is lovely and the restaurant very sumptuous. We had the 6 course menu with wine pairings. The food was high quality and the service excellent. Only slight criticism is that the fish & meat main courses (turbot and venison) were the least memorable of the... More

For those who have read my numerous reviews will know I can be quite critical but on this occasion a birthday lunch went without any fault of adverse criticism . From beginning to end it was a delight. The quality of the food was excellent as well as the presentation . The outstanding dish was the soufflé

My wife and myself decided to spend the New Year's eve at the Mandarin (where we usually stay but this time, we were at the Peninsula). Between the gala buffet on the terrasse and the more formal setting of Le Normandie, we chose the latter and what a blast: great and classy setting, fantastic view over the river nad what... More

The restaurant locates inside Mandarin Oriental. The place is elegant, beautiful table setting and silver wares to eat with. We were seated by the window which overlooks the Chao Phraya River. We were there for set lunch instead of dinner because they are better valued. The service is five star, staffs are attentive, will come check on you every 20minutes... More

Le Normandie is one of my favourite restaurants in the world. The requirement to wear a jacket may put some people off but I think a beautiful restaurant deserves customers who have dressed up a little. The sommelier Banyat is very knowledgeable. The Domaine de Pegau 2010 he recommended was excellent. The Aberdeen Angus medium rare melted in the mouth.... More

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
