The business called The Olde Bell has NOT yet re-opened. The building was purchased by the 'Scotsman named Andy' that you mention. We were frozen out of the deal by the landlady. It is a different business that happens to be on the same premises...More

Yes, as a couple of other people have noted, the Olde Bell IS NO MORE. The building is empty. The owner wanted to increase the rent 200% or more. Not an unusual story here in Thailand. Sadly, it should be removed from the listings. It...More

It's kind off sad that I only became a regular here just before they decided to close, which is a shame because it's one of the nicest little British pubs in Northern Thailand.

Great British food and a great pint of beer. The children loved the stodgy large portions and it was really nice to chat with some of the local retired English. Sad to hear that this place is closing down, what a shame.

The kids spotted this one and we thought a-ha, bangers & mash, yorkshire pudding, snake and pygmy pie, fish & chips. Well yes, it is that kind of place, don't you know. But having never been to blighty we don't have much to judge it...More

I recently started to feel a little homesick (or was in need of a good British Sunday Roast), either way, The Olde Bell British Pub cured me. I ordered a huge Sunday Roast with a variety of meats (chicken, pork, beef and lamb) along with...More

I had a couple of meals here in a period of one week, and both were pretty good. Maybe a little more expensive than many of the surrounding places, but then again I'm a new arrival to Chiang Mai and not yet to the stage...More

This 'pub' is in a popular 'pub' street in Chiang Mai. I went here once at lunch-time and again at dinner time. They boast a wide selection of beers and ciders, and a comprehensive Thai/European menu. There's a lot of local competition and in this...More

Firstly, I don't subscribe to the notion that British pubs should be tired and scruffy places that are sorely in need of a decent cleanup and a lick of paint (neither of these are particularly costly or difficult to accomplish). Frankly the Old Bell has...More

The Olde Bell is a British/Australian style pub situated in the heart of Chiang Mai's entertainement district. It is a great place to meet local ex-pats and chat at the bar over a pint about Chiang Mai life. The well stocked bar includes draught Guinness and a local microbrewery brown ale as well as Chang and Tiger. There is a pool table and darts board for customers use. The extensive menu is of good quality British and Australian Pub Grub including The Great British Breakfast, Fish 'n Chips, Steak 'n Kidney Pie, Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Parmigiana. A warm welcome awaits you!
