We accidentally stumbled across this place on our first night while looking for something easy and delicious. It delivered on both. Very simple menu. The only thing you really need to know is get the beef noodles and add the sauces on the table to taste. We ended up going 4 times in our short stay. Dont miss it!

Go here for a real Vietnamese experience - one dish on the menu, you get seated together with other people, and the service is real quick, you hardly have time to sit down before you're served. The dish was a little bland in my opinion - but there are lots of spices, chilies and lime you can add for more... More

This place has a great bowl of noodles, and is worth a stop if you're in the Old Quarter. I wish there was some way to distinguish restaurants in Vietnam that are more street food style from those that are restaurants. I think of street food style not as eating on the sidewalk or standing, but typically a very limited... More

The upstairs was a good sitting area. Seven of us sat by the window, the beef noodles were great! There's ac, and the service is very fast.

There's only one thing on the menu and it's really, really good and a Hanoi classic. The only decision you have to make is what to drink. Go for the food, not the service & ambiance; but appreciate it for what it is: a no nonsense approach to serving food. For two of us, a meal with two drinks was... More

Very small menu. The go to is the beef noodle salad. They can accomodate to vegetarians also. Full of flavour! A must!

Being a vegetarian I simply asked for a beef noodle salad, minus the beef. The price was 20,000 less and the flavour was delicious. It's loaded with bean sprouts, lettuce, fried onion, and noodles - add some chilli or soy and it's the perfect dish. Only downside is that they only offer one actual dish, and then pork rolls or... It was my last day in Hanoi and I don't want to miss the chance to experience the local cuisine at Bun Bo Nam Bo. I tried the vegetable spring roll as appetizer and ofcourse Bun Bo Nam Bo and both are perfect. Cheap and quality food, a must try in Hanoi

We enjoyed our meal very much. The place is no frills which was fine by us. The meal was tasty if a bit simple but very cheap. Overall it's an excellent option if you're in the area, but not worth a long detour.

Ate here twice. Best place for bun bo nam bo we found... Perfect ratios! Only reason for not full rating is the staff really only trying to maximize amount of people and quick table turnover. Was paying and the owner attempted to push me aside just so he could get more noodle bowls to serve. Change from employee who took... More

Description
Bun bo Nam Bo is marinating the beef, then comes making 'nuoc cham' and the pickled vegetables (shredded carrot and papaya). The pickled vegies is crispy, a little sour and a little sweet, which even makes me eat two bowls of the noodle at once. Remember to pickle the carrot (and papaya first, before marinating the beef) since it takes at least 1 hour to get a good flavor on the carrot.
