A local Vietnamese recommended me to try to have coffee at cafe Lam. The place is nostalgic and packed with local people. It was an interesting experience to sit at the pavement and watching people passing by. The coffee was average as i think the condense milk was too sweet. But it was fun and price is cheap.

Dropped by Cafe Lam whilst exploring the old quarter of Hanoi. Was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and the very immaculate decor of old vietnamese paintings on the walls of the cafe. Many locals chilling out within the main shop space, having a nice cup of iced coffee. Had an iced coffee and a salted lemon drink (it was more... More

Went there on a afternoon. There wasn't many people inside and we were one of the last to leave. We stayed there about 1hr and we love the quiet atmosphere. We didn't see many tourists around but the coffee is good. They also sell packaged coffee (both powder and beans) which is worth for value. May visit again if I... More

I went because it was highly recommended by the guide and the first time I went, I could not get a stool to sit. The coffee was strong but not particularly good. The atmosphere was certainly charming: sitting down on low stools with the drinks on low tables. The water came first and then the coaster and then the coffee.... More

We arrived this caffe via local friend that reccomand us. We so happy to find this place, but when we see the price its was a joke. 25000vd for black coffe? Its the most expensive coffe i drink in vietnam, more then expensive resturant. I dont think the price is right so i wont go there another time.

Cafe Lam was recommended by a local tour guide. The coffee with condensed milk was definitely worth a try! We also bought packaged coffee powder and the little coffee makers made of stainless steel. Lovely place for coffee lovers!

Cafe Lam :One of Hanoi's oldest cafes, this slightly musty one-room establishment is practically a historical monument. Its proprietor, Nguyen Lam, provided coffee and often loans to the city's impoverished artist community during the war, and rumor has it that he is sitting on an art collection now worth a fortune. He serves Vietnamese-style hot and iced coffee (with thick, sweet condensed milk) to a crowd of faithful regulars.
