A truly delightful meal. Both of us chose the set menu BBQ Pork with French Onion Soup and ice cream for dessert. All was cooked and presented beautifully. Excellent value for money at 80,000pp. Of course there is a wider choice on the a la carte menu but we were on a budget so this was a great option. On... More

Cheap, set menu, but meat was barbecued to charcoal. Salad was mouldy lettuce.wine was watery. Fruit and ice cream were delish. Look elsewhere, if this is the usual standard.

This really is a beautiful, quaint, traditional style restaurant. The owner "was" very welcoming in the beginning. The mussel starter was very good, but the lamb main was tough as old boots. The local Laos waitress was very attentive, which turned out to be the nicest touch from any of the staff. When the owner disappeared I thought nothing of... More

After a week of wandering around in northern Thailand and Vientiane and eating locally, I thought a gustatory break was in order. As the French had a presence for a long (probably too long) period, I asked for recommendations from friends and a local guide. I chose La Cave des Chateaux and I am very glad that I did. The... ...so we went in search of something else in Vientiane. We came across this tucked away, adorable place and were instantly smitten. The architecture is unique, wave-like, romantic and really beautiful. The owners were delightful, welcoming and the good was exquisite. We started the mussels appetizer and it was extraordinary. My husband ordered the special pork dish which was amazing... More

For almost 20 years I have been visiting this restaurant on my infrequent visits to Vientiane, and it never fails to live up to expectations. Right in the city centre, in the "Fountain Circle" the cave-like restautrant exhudes "chabby chic" and has a wonderful atmosphere. A blackboard of daily specials supplements a choice of set menus or A la Carte... More

Whilst it may be unadventurous to go to a French restaurant in Laos, this made a great change at the end of our trip. Seemingly a family run establishment, the food was excellent, cooked to perfection and the service was attentive with a family feel. Although relatively expensive the specials were good value given the quality. The wine list was... More

Unexpected trip to Vientiane with friends was an opportunity to visit a Resturant we all had enjoyed six years ago. Now situated in what has become a trendy social square called 'The Mix', this Resturant used to be one of few tenants, now it has lots of competition. May be Monday night is not a good day to judge, but... More

I'm not a French food expert. I went there alone in the evening of July after been there in 2009. The place is nice and nothing formal. You can walk in with flip flop. Both owner are friendly and good English. The lady owner recommend me with duck beast with mango sauce. I don't need to order a set or... More
