L'Opera is now Villa Opera and is a little north of the city, between Suvanaphoum Road and the river. It is in a beautifully restored French colonial house. The menu is the same as at the old place, though it tasted particularly good on our visit. The dining areas are spacious, high ceilinged rooms tastefully decorated. Service was excellent. Well... How exciting is this. After 25 years the Opera shut, temporarily, its doors and is moving to a beautifully restored old French colonial villa slightly upstream the Mekong river. Like anything else in Laos also this takes longer than anticipated and Pino, the owner, hopes to finalize the last touches on the "Villa Opera" by latest End of November 2016.... More

You would need to be on the brink of starvation to enjoy the food in this place. Worst food I ever had in Laos!

expensive ! But if there is something special, Pino will prepare it for you. The staff don't smile but they are effective and Pino is the best address to help you out in Vientiane with good adresses. will change location soon because of that architectural disaster of the Namphu place.

On a 2 week tour in SE Asia, had to take a break from rice. So our hotel was within walking distance to this area of restaurants. I had lasagna, hubby had chicken parm, and our friends shared a pizza. Bread was fresh and hot, this area of Asia has such a European flair. It was so nice to have... More

We shared a bruschetta to start with which was good (but small); the plate was drizzled with balsamic reduction and a little truffle oil which added to the enjoyment. We both had pasta as a main, and in both cases the pasta (spaghetti and rigatoni) were cooked perfectly al dente, and the sauces excellent. We drank carafes of the red... More

Our mission group ate dinner here for the week we were in Vientiane. Six of us ordering new items every night for five nights, plus appetizers and complimentary dishes from Pino, the proprietor. We were all over his menu. Our verdict is a resounding Bravo! There were too many items to describe in details. Specific recommendations are the Zuppa de... More

We had a really good Italian meal, with excellent wines, and thoroughly enjoyed the company of the Roman owner. The staff are friendly and helpful, the ambience is great, loads of space. Added bonus - the chef patron told me where to find a good manicure in Vientiane! Thank you..

My girlfriend and I wondered in here looking for lunch. The place was empty but we were told that lunch was being served. We ordered eggplant parmesan for appetizers, Chianti from their large wine selection and enjoyed a seat near the window. For entrees I got long noodles pasta with salami sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce... More

We went on new year's eve, and had the best Italian meal and the finest gelato I have ever eaten. The owner is lovely, the staff are friendly, and it was a great way to end 2015. Highly recommended, a real not-to-be-missed meal in Vientiene.
