About
Hazara": our name is derived from the people of Hazara tribe, settled in Northern Mountains of Afganistan. Hazara's are related to Mongolia as they came as part of Chinggis Khan's army in 13th century. They are proud, Independent and good natured people. Our Food; North Indian Frontier Cuisine is based on healthy traditional method of cooking. There is gentle use of spices and more emphasis on flavours and herbs. Tandoor (Clay oven) is used to grill the meat to give its chary taste. There is abundant use of dry fruits and cream to give very creamy and smooth taste. Our Architect: We have created the ambience of Havelis of Rajasthan. Antique doors and zarokas and colourful tents create warmth and romantic ambience.

We had dinner twice in this nice restaurant. The food was very good and portions were generous. We especially enjoyed the great vegetarian selection, which is unusual in Mongolia and was very welcome to us. Service was kind and prompt. Furthermore we found the prices very reasonable. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We highly recommend this place! Maria and Carlo, The Netherlands

GREAT food & service. We were warmly welcomed by the owner who was very attentive throughout our meal. Food was delicious & nicely spiced and an appreciated change to the normally bland Mongolian food. Spot On!!! Recommended!!!

Really good food, especially the spicy lamb curry and the lamb biryani. They added so many different garnishings to the biryani; it was the best one I've ever had. Also, the sort of manager there named Olgie was the best! She studied in Dalian, China a long time ago but still remembers Chinese. She also speaks great English! So that means she speaks at least 3 languages: Mongolian, English, and Chinese. ^^ Amazing. Her language abilities made it much easier for me to choose dishes that would suit me. (She helped me order food without dairy and beef!) So if you have allergies, I think she can help!

As always, Hazara outdid itself. Outstanding food and great service. Khan and his wife have consistently prepared excellent food in a relaxed and comfortable environment. I cannot come to Mongolia without coming here. The fish tikka was superb, the paneer, flavorful and just right, and the lamb biryani was done to perfection.

My husband and I are regulars here. Living in Ulaanbaatar, it's a challenge to find good places to dine and even more of a challenge to find restaurants that are consistently good. This is not the case with Hazara, not only is the food amazing and authentic ( its glowing reviews are very accurate) they are consistent and In the 20+ times I have been here I have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh, flavourful, and quick to arrive. They do not cut any corners unlike some of the other Indian restaurants in the city which sometimes taste as if they have been frozen and defrosted in a microwave after we order. This family-owned business takes pride in its restaurant, and they work hard to make it the incredible place that it is. They foster a friendly environment that makes you feel right at home. I will continue to be a regular here for the foreseeable future and hope others will give this gem of a restaurant a try. They will not disappoint.

Travellers and lovers of Indian food, we check out Indian restaurants wherever we travel. So we also did in Ulaanbaatar. Hazara is absolutely the best North-West Indian cooking we have had outside India... and in the top-rung when compared to restaurants within India too. We went once at the start of our travels in Mongolia and it was an absolute must to enjoy a dinner there again at the end of our trip. Both times we had the Hazara speciality Raan. It was tender and full of flavours. The palak paneer and aloo gobhi are definitely cooked by someone who knows how to make them to perfection. The interiors of the restaurant are beautiful with a Rajasthani camp feel. All in all highly recommended for anyone visiting Mongolia. Make it your first stop and every stop you possibly can!

Went with some local Mongolian collaborators for a business/friends sort of meal and it was really good - the naan was honestly amongst the best I've ever had (and I'm British, we eat a lot of curry). We had a kebab platter with all the different types of kebabs, which was awesome, along with some saucy curries, rice and saag paneer. It was all really fresh, service was actually very good (not always the case in UB) - would definitely recommend to anyone!

We stopped in first of all just to look at the menu. Our waitress to accommodating, and invited us to sit down and get the menu together. I noticed that they had a number of very good choices, so we decided to stay. Our waitress was very friendly as was the store owner who checked in with us a couple times to see make sure that everything was all right. I inquired about having a larger group come to visit he pointed out how the restaurant was set up so that they can easily comedy large groups. That was helpful. The food was delicious and the amount of food offered was adequate. The desserts were so so for our American tastes, but possibly good for the Mongolian pallet. Overall our experience was very nice. The price was a little more than what we had anticipated, but of course if you compare it to prices in the US you would have to say we got a good deal.

Excellent food. The restaurant was very cozy and very clean inside, we had no trouble communicating, the menu was also in English with helpful photos. The portions were huge and fairly priced. We had two curries, vegetable pakora, garlic naan, and another bread I don’t remember the name of. Everything was delicious and flavorful. We talked with the owner and her husband for a bit after the meal and they are lovely. Highly recommended! We have multiple nights in UB and will probably go back.

We just love this place. The food is consistently fabulous and the service is awesome. Amongst my favorites are the crispy pakora, tasty chicken saag, light, fluffy naan breads and the delicious mango lassi. The owner is a delight and feels like a family friend.

My friends and I stopped at Hazara for lunch. We had seen the great reviews and we were not disappointed. I have had Indian food all over the world in many Indian expat communities. The food at Hazara exceeded all expectations. Each dish was perfectly prepared and presented. The manager saw that I was interested in the architecture and gave me a detailed and fascinating tour of the various pieces of Indian art and architecture that are part of the restaurant. Paired with the excellent food and really special atmosphere, this was truly one of the best Indian dining experiences I have ever had. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.

After returning from an expedition in the wilds of Mongolia our group was needing a flavorful and filling meal. We were greeted by a friendly staff and owner. The food was excellent and very tasteful. Portions were big and more than one person can consume, so meals can be shared with a group of dinners. The drink selection are expansive and can take care of a group. Our meal was reasonably priced. Highly recommend if visiting the capital.

I stumbled across this place nearby my accomodation. It was like being transported back in time to the Silk Road! The decor was beautiful, and I found the host and waiters extremely friendly and attentive. There is a button on the table that you can push and the waiters will come which makes it easier. The menu is in Mongolian and English. The food was delicious, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere very nice. Complete package. Will I be back? Yes, Do I recommend? Yes, I also agree with the previous poster, the Naan bread was amazing!

Top notch Indian food with attentive service and generous portions. Large menu means there is something for everyone including giant baskets of freshly baked garlic naan and several types of creamy lentils. Delicious.
