Having eaten in some great places on previous nights, we headed to the centre of Sultanhamet and stopped here. It was decidedly average. Firstly, service was the slowest and least attentive we received. My husbands chicken was fatty thigh meat and not worth the cost. My swordfish, I dispute it was swordfish. I ate it, but the majority was definitely... More

A lot of the touristy restaurants around the main streets and squares of Sultanahmet seem a bit interchangeable, but I’m yet to have a bad meal in any of them. I had some meatball dish at Mozaik and it was tasty enough, perhaps a bit expensive. Decent wine list. Staff were fairly pleasant and were very understanding when I rushed... More

Ate dinner here recently. Prices are high compared to other places in the same area with similar menus. Service is apathetic - staff should be told to spend less time checking their phones and more time attending to customers! The food is good but no better than other better-value restaurants close by. If this restaurant is to survive the downturn... More

The food was okay-to-good, but certainly not excellent and not traditional Turkish when compared to some of the other places that we have eaten at around Turkey. Service was okay and the ambience was, once again, okay. Overall... not bad, but nothing to leave a lasting impression.

I walked by this place often as it was just a stone's throw from my hotel. I'm glad I stopped in. There are tables inside and out. I opted for outside so I could people watch as I ate. I had an appetizer of a deep fried, stuffed pastry. It was good. And a sautéed lamb dish. A glass of... More

We went there for dinner for an entire week in November and we were never disappointed. The food is excellent without any let-downs, copious and reasonably priced. They offer a large variety of Turkish dishes but also international cuisine that they do just as well. The service is a bit slow sometimes but you don´t really mind when you´re on... More

We ate dinner at Mozaik Cafe during our stay in Istanbul and we are so glad we did! Situated right around the corner from our hotel, within eyesight of the Blue Mosque, this place has such a wonderful atmosphere, we didn't want to leave! It was a little chilly, but we are so glad we ate outside under one to... More

"The Mozaik restaurant, with its three floors and a basement, is housed in a nicely renovated Ottoman house. As much as possible of the original was preserved, hence the rather small rooms with plenty of tables for two, wooden floors and creaking stairs. The perfect setting for a candlelit tête-à-tête dinner. The cuisine is mainly Turkish and international."

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
