I like everything in this place! People in here are very friendly, but the main reason we came here it was cheap. It is cheap and delicious!

This place, just off the main Sultanahmet drag, was full of locals, which I think is always a good sign. I had the mixed Pide which was delicious and my friend had a small casserole with bread to dip in. Good value for money and served Beer which not all the restaurants near the mosques do.

I like restaurants where local people eat as well, and this is just the one. The staff were lovely people. An old gentleman took our order and served us. He has a very comfortable, charismatic presence that was instantly likeable. My friend a world traveller had the beef steak claiming that at Karadeniz was the best! The other one had... More

We had the most remarkable meal and evening in this tiny "off the beaten path" restaurant owned by four brothers in Istanbul. Our taxi got lost en route , so the driver called the restaurant and the owner came out to meet us at the entrance of the small alley to lead us personally to his restaurant. We were then... More

Probably the best meal I had in Istanbul. Owner is a delight. Prices reasonable. Make sure you go to the one on the corner (other restaurants have opened with the same name....)

This restaurant is far enough away from the main Hagia Sofia tourist area that it is good value. The owner of the restaurant who was busy recruiting customers from the sidewalk was good to get us seated and food ordered. My wife had a cheese pizza which was large and tasted very fresh and I had a minced beef and... More

We tried the lamb pide, potato pide and sheep cheese pide - all of which were good. Prices were reasonable, service was good, and staff helpful. We could not decide between the vegetarian options, and they accommodated us by making half of each. We would recommend them for a quick meal.

Food was delicious. Price is not very expensive. Atmosphere is quit, without something special, simple.

Watch out, which "Karadeniz" you choose. There are two of them very close to each other and some of the pictures here are assigned wrongly. We went here and got cold supermarket-bread and cold red wine in a freezing cold place. The food itself wasn't bad and the staff was friendly.

Hard to pick a restaurant from the myriad of choices, but we found this one in a book and confirmed it on Tripadvisor. Very friendly service, good selection and basic Turkish food in the tourist area. The food is good basic Turkish and at a good price.

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
