I was in Istanbul with my boyfriend, and we came to this place because of a friend's recommendation. Come here if you're looking for a real Turkish experience, away from the tourist common line. We had a great dinner (very nice seafood) and we met a group of Turkish guys (next to our table) who were pleased to offer us... More

Having a tiny salad in the menu, doesn't make this a vegetarian restaurant (far from vegan!). We paid enough for a good dinner and left hungry.

Thank you for reviewing us. It is true: we are not a vegetarian restaurant. But we never claimed to be one. We are a seafood restaurant (always been, since 1966). That being said, I am sorry you missed the following when reading our menu: Red pepper puree, Feta cheese, Tzatziki, Beans casserole, Seaweed salad, Aegean greens, Broad bean puree, Aromatized... Typical Istanbul Seafood and Fish Restaurant, with an owner who is a football fanatic - like many in Istanbul. Fresh and good choice of seafood - chef is ready to prepare special dishes if requested. Nice, local atmosphere - gypsy music - if you like it.

Almost everytime I travel to Istanbul, I visit this restaurant. After having some mezzes: octopus, aubergine, calamari,... I usually order fish, two great options: salt cooked sea-bass, or fried turbot. You will never get disappointed! Service is also great Depending on the season probably a good idea will be to book previously. Upstairs is for smokers, better to stay downstairs... More

This place is very good. The service was outstanding and the sea food top notch. I was by myself so the waiters offer me a bunch of stuff to try and did not want to charge me for it. On top of that they take Amex so everything was convenient. Highly recommend this place.

This is a long established fish restaurant in Kumpaki. Unlike some of the other restaurants nearby it seem to have a good proportion of local visitors, rather than relying on tourists. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, the fish is cooked to order, and the mezes are fresh and enticing.

Although we went on Sunday, the blue fish (grilled) was fresh and tasty. There were not too much fish to choose but it is ok. I prefer the freshness rather than find frozen product. The price is fair considering that it is seafood. Service ok.

Thank you for reviewing our restaurant. Bluefish was an excellent choice: each fish species has its best time. Now, in january, we especially recommend bluefish, turbot and red mullet. Bluefish, the "sultan of the Bosphorus" is expensive because it is getting rare, but it is worth the price. We are looking forward to seeing you again at Çapari's. More

Come with my friend to the restaurant for a light dinner. I chose a fish soup and he a sea bass. Both were happy with the choice. The fish soup is done at the moment but I was informed before that it would take some 30 m. The service is professional and the prices adequate. Not as touristic as the... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We appreciate hearing that our efforts to offer the best seafood are successful. Our fish soup is one of those delicacies that you will hardly find anywhere else in Istanbul. Hope to see you again very soon. More

Thank you for reviewing our restaurant. We are sorry to learn that you were not satisfied by your visit. I wish you had told us that you were not happy with the servings: we would have changed them. I am not sure which kind of fish you had, but I suppose it was bluefish, one of the most popular species... More

Çapari is one of the most ancient and popular venues of Kumkapi, a historical district famous for its seafood restaurants. It is owned and run by a family of fishermen who proudly offer the freshest fish of the market at reasonable price. Local and foreign foodies go there to savour specialities such as scorpionfish soup, grilled whole calamari, gurnard stew, braised anglerfish, bluefish en papillote, sea bass gratin, salt baked sea bass, fried turbot or grilled whole turbot. N.B.: Çapari is our registered brand name. We have no branches, but many imitators. Please take good note of our address: we are located in the historical quarter of Kumkapi, a 10-minute walk from Sultanahmet square.
