Do yourself a favour and book a holiday to Turkey for these lamb shanks alone! The Green Corner is in a great location. You can choose to sit inside or out. Good service, friendly staff. We were offered complimentary teas that were added to our bill, but that's fine. Will definitely return for the food.

In Istanbul for a short break, our first port of call for refreshment is always Green Corner Cafe in the historic heart of Sultanahmet, overlooking Hagia Sofia. Its location is great, nestling beneath trees decorated with multi-coloured lanterns and lamps, and the ambience is inviting. We have tried a variety of different dishes here over the years - many from... More

I have been to the restaurant for several times. It's has a nice cosy feel to it and serves tasty food. I have tried many restaurants in the area and it's one of the best for a fairly priced tasty meal. The staff is nice, and although not all of them speak English but they will ask you to wait... Good points: 1. The meze plate is awesome! It's a good choice for first time visitors since it contains different types of Turkish food. 2. Pasta serving is huge! 3. Server (forgot his name though) is nice! 4. View is nice and relaxing. Areas of improvement: 1. WC needs more cleaning. 2. Server could have asked us if the cheese... More

We visit Istanbul regularly and always spend time at Green Corner when we are there. On our latest visit, head chef Yusuf excelled himself with some marvellous fish dishes, cooked to order. The fish soup appetiser was full of subtle flavours, including fresh dill. We followed with griddled jumbo prawn kebabs, which came with a scrumptiously crisp and colourful salad.... More

This restaurant is a few seconds away from Hagia Sophia. It faces the street, so while sitting outside you can watch tourists going and coming. The food is average but the menu has many choices. There's shisha also. It is a touristic place, but the location is really nice and very good as a rest stop after a long day... More

Not far from the sights. No alcohol provided. Cuisine is usual. If you expect something special, it is not the right place to visit

A good place to get a quick lunch near Hagia Sophia. There's seating outdoors as well as indoors. Located by a busy street.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
