Tourists love this restaurant for a reason. I stayed here as a bit of extra luxury when my wife met up with my teenage son and I on our 10,000-mile cycle expedition from Ireland to Japan (book: Long Road, Hard Lessons). My wife loved this cafe. We went back several times. It's as much about the bustling atmosphere as for... More

When we asked if we could go upstairs, the barista grunted "closed" without making any eye contact. We found a small cramped table and parked ourselves. The three guys sitting there said nothing to us - we felt invisible! When I walked up to order, all the communication from the barista was in monosyllabic grunts without any eye contact... It... We saw this little cafe had a proper coffee machine and so returned to it the morning of our departure. It was just up the road from our hotel and i wish we had discovered it day 1! You can get a proper coffee here. If you're a coffee snob you will notice the long-life milk taste but that is... More

This modern little cafe made the best cappuccino/espresso I found in Istanbul and is a really nice place to just sit and and relax. Walk down the hill from the Blue Mosque and look for the Illy sign.

Description
Really great little coffee shop just down the hill from the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Fatih makes a great capuccino for TL5, the best I had in Istanbul (email: fatihak-bulut@hotmail.com). Really nice clean and new place, quite different from other coffee shops in Sultanahmet. Look for the Illy coffee sign.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
