Great Turkish delight with great price comparing with other stores. Thank you Mr. Hakan for your kind reception, and sure will come back to visit your store soon.

Having read a few reviews on newspapers and on the internet we set out to find the altan sekerleme which was a lot harder than I thought. Having asked at another shop the owner rang mr altan who personally came to collect us and took us to his shop which was unlike all the artificial sweet shops I had seen... More

If not for TripAdvisor we would not have found this place. So happy we did! Turkish delight is made upstairs from this store - owner is 4th generation maker. The Turkish delight here is incredible. It is so soft, it almost melts in your mouth. As our orders were being filled the owner kept coming from behind the counter to... More

The Turkish delight (lokum)we've tried everywhere else has been rubbery, chewy and tasteless compared to the soft, heavenly pillows of confectionary genius at Altan Sekerleme. The pistachio is king, but the samples of rose petal flavored and orange flavored lokum were also delightful and I usually don't even like rose. This place isn't just about lokum, though. They have a... More

Altan remembered me from several years back. Naturally I came for a lot more locum. Same wonderful product - made with natural ingredients. Nice unique gifts for Christmas.

This place is totally worth to make the walk out for! The location on Trip Advisor is a little off, you need to keep walking past the first lokum (Turkish Delight) store to find it. Don't be fooled! Once you get there it's such a wonderful sanctuary of treats and yes Turkish delight. All made in house and fresh. I'd... More

I came to this quaint, unassuming little shop on the recommendation of a travelling companion who ventured into the city especially to visit this one shop. As soon as you enter you realise it has real historical and even cultural significance. It has been a small family business for many years making the most perfect Turkish Delight. I guarantee even... We decided to visit this shop after reading about it online. It isn't the easiest place to find, but is worth the effort. It seems many locals are not aware of it as not one person we asked knew of its whereabouts. The place is unassuming and as other reviews mention it is old-fashioned but that adds to its charm.... Old fashioned sweet shop with a sense of history. Hand made locum (Turkish delight). Many different flavours - we really liked the pistachio version.

We have returned time and time again to buy Turkish Delight from Altan. Always new flavours to try and you DO get to try before you buy. Love the chocolate and hazelnut, rose and pistachio, and the cinnamon. You might be lucky to find a new batch of orange. They also sell boiled lollies in the traditional Turkish style, halva... Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
