A friend who lives in Istanbul took me there to have dinner. I have no experience with Turkish cuisine, but I liked the food. The dessert was really nice because I like pumpkin and quince in syrup. It's pricey considering what I could see around. The two of us had a drink, some cold entrees, bread, dessert and it was... More

The mezes are great and the service is so fast that your plate is never empty. Seafood, local delicacies they all taste good. You have live music and loud atmosphere. You can feel the nostalgia on the walls.

As first, they have very fast service. Secondly the live music, which is very local music of Turkey, is very good as well. Regarding the food, it is very average one. I tasted nothing special.

With my Istanbul'ite friends I always enjoy eating here. Enjoying the street atmosphere and the fresh fare of all Turkish mezze's . Seafood , local delicacies, everything is worth trying.

All is awesome except management lets customers smoke like a chimney indoor although it's illegal! Really a pity for such a historical restaurant. Hope they will change someday and will follow the rules.

We ate here twice in two days because we enjoyed the food so much. The selection of cold starters looked good , and didn't disappoint. We had marinated anchiovies, Stuffed mussels, octopus salad, spicy aubergines in tomato, and some swordfish. All were exquisite. The first time we visited, my main course of fish was slightly overcooked - which stops me... More

It's been so long that I haven't visited this famous Turkish Meyhane and now I'm OK with it. It was much better before. I had a good time here, had fresh seafood and liked it. The ambiance of the restaurant is good. As I said it's OK for me but was much better before.

Oh. My. God. Simply extraordinary. Just great. Excellent original Turkish food prepared in traditional ways with the best ingredients. Fish extremely fresh, eggplant superb, the cheeses, the filled pastries... You cannot go wrong here! Don´t even bother checking their website, all in turkish and with great turkish music. Just go!! This was the preferred restaurant of Ataturk and so well... More

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
