I agree with most of the reviews, this place is a complete tourist trap. Ordered the yogurt soup(decent) , the lamb and vegetables stuffed in filo ( decent) , the stewed beef (flavorless ) and the stewed greens ( flavorless ). This all cost 128TY which I thought was a rip off. It's a great location to people watch outside... More

Very nice welcome but it is a trap, prices are not clearly shown and food was cold. Nice terrasse in a quiet street but that's all. Don't go there!

This place is just a total tourist trap. We thought it was a nice local place, but there were no menus. The owner proposed us a "mix of everything" for dinner. What a mix! All food was served from cafeteria prepared plates. And the worst was the price: 210 liras for 2 adults and 2 children. Of course, there is... More

We had not read the reviews of this restaurant before visiting, we simply happened upon it while wondering through the Grand Bazaar. We met the beautiful owner who treated us like family. We couldn't decide between all of the appetizing, traditional, turkish dishes steaming behind the glass, so she offered us a sample platter. I would highly recommend this. Literally,... More

This historic restaurant was founded in 1959. You can see the daily dishes being prepared. Staff speak English. Clean toilet on the first floor. I tasted the BEST Iman Imbayaldi ever. It was small admittedly and cost 15 TL but the taste was better than Sex!! The soft onion filling was mixed with pine nuts and mini raisins. Superb! I... More

Interesting little restaurant outside the Grand Bazaar. Food is very good, a little pricey, but it is in a tourist destination. Staff in friendly and accommodating, place is relatively clean.....kitchen is visible and clean.

We Turkish like pot foods. What i mean is meat and or vegetables boiled in pots, generally with tomato pure. This is a restaurant where you can taste ordinary Turkish food with good price. I don't why it is chosen as an expensive restaurant. There should be a mistake.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
