A shop owner told me of this place and I stop for lunch everytime I'm in Sultanahmet. The meals are typical cafeteria-style Turkish & Ottoman entrees and the variety of fresh veggie sides make... A great place to grab a real Turkish lunch just outside the bazaar - to the left of the Nurosmaniya Gate. Lots of hot meat and vegetable stews in a big glass case inside - just point and it is rushed immediately to your table.

Our tour guide wanted us to eat here and we were pleasantly surprised. This little local haunt had some of the best food! Since we had a group of eight, they set up a table outside for us. It was in an alley and quite memorable. Inexpensive too!

Located just outside grand bazaar. We went there for lunch. There wasn't a big crowd at the time. You just select what you want from the display. Food was fresh and good quality. Rice pudding was heavenly

This place was introduced to me a a fews years ago when I asked one of the carpet traders in the Gand Bazar, Where do you guys go to eat? I don't want to go to a traditional tourist type restaurant! My friend recommended this place. Ever since it has become the first place I go to before I enter... More

Who would have thought? This is the best food in Istanbul! Honest, tasty, fresh, different every day : your home away from home in Turkey. I had this fantastic plate of mashed eggplants, which I mixed with the rice, nuts and raisins and topped it with sweet, fresh, green chili peppers. Please do not stray to poisonous cookeries that will... More

The place is not fancy but its location is pretty convenient. It is closed to Grand Bazaar so it is a great option if you are in the area. You select what you want a the display and they will take it to your table fairly quickly. You can take a bit of everything, chicken, lamb, vegetables, rice, etc.Bill: 20... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
