At cookiza we serve home-made Israeli food, made with the heart. The menu changes every day, so it is always a delight to eat at our restaurant. Not only do we serve you and welcome you in a great & hospitable way - we really try to make your visit in Tel Aviv worthwhile and special. Our restaurant is located just a few minutes from the beach and in the heart of Tel Aviv - perfect for a quick bite or a romantic and authentic dinner. very gay friendly / very vegan friendly
Highly recommended by The Embassy Hotel where we were staying, we enjoyed a delicious, home-made Israeli dinner. The restaurant is family owned and operated, which guarantees a wonderful dining experience.
After a long flight from the States to Tel Aviv, all we wanted was a good meal at a non-touristy place. And just steps from our hotel (BY 14) is Kukiza. What a find! What a wonderful way to start our Israel vacation! The wait...staff was quick, friendly and grateful for our business. The food was wonderful! Everything brought out from the kitchen looked so good! I finally decided on the Beef Meatballs and was not disappointed. Yum! I did not have better the whole trip. Try the mint lemonade - you will not be disappointed. What a treat Kukiza was!More
Visited this place twice. First discovered it for lunch. Had the “business lunch” which was great value. Vegan Kebbe soup, crystal meat balls, mash and salad. All delicious. Mash a little gluey but tasty.
Second visit was with a colleague for dinner. Shared 5 meze...starters and each had our own mains. All good super yummy.
The place is small and casual. Good atmosphere and very busy in the evening and even turned some people away.
Looking forward to returning.More
We found this resturant while looking for a place by our hotel (The metropolitan). It is a small storefront style with a glass enclosure by the sidewalk. The food was good as well as the service. I had a slow cooked beef dish with red...pepper that was excellent. This is about a block off of the beach and well worth a visit.More
We were in Tel Aviv for the weekend celebrating my son's birthday and looking for a restaurant that is good for children and adults. My brother recommended Kukiza so we booked and it was wonderful! The place is eclectic and has a great atmosphere, the...food was delicious, and the service was wonderful! The waitress even went out to buy a sparkler to put on my son's dessert. Highly recommended!More
The restaurant was a very basic small storefront style and as one reviewer said the portions were smaller than other places in Tel Aviv however the quality of the cranberry Beef Tangine made up for the "small" issues as the couscous was the best I...have ever tasted and the slow cooked beef melted in your mouth like butter.More
As the restaurant was not far from our hotel and had pretty good reviews we decided to give it a go... what a mistake! On entering at 2pm we had to order from an evening menu. Why but OK... ?? The waitresses were rude, Food...was very very average, mashed potatoes pretty disgusting... instead of mint tea we were given black tea. Portions are very small and we ended up going to an excellent pizza place after our Kukiza lunch 🤣 on top I refused to pay a tip, it was not included in our bill. I never do it but we thought the service was so poor that there was a reason to let them know. Haha... the waitress insisted we had to pay service charges because in Israel you have to do it as it is the waiter’s salary!! Excuse me..? Oh God no.. don’t go to this restaurant if you want decent food in decent quantity and with waiters having high morale. I am afraid it was the worst food and experience we have had in Israel.More
We chose to come here as it had good reviews and local food. I always feel more comfortable when the locals eat here too, means the restaurant relies on repeat business and not just a tourist trap!
The man in charge was very friendly, helped...explain the menu and make suggestions. He also made a chicken tagine instead of beef even though this wasn’t an option on the menu. We had hummus to start, chicken tagine, vegetarian lentil balls (which are in a coconut cream mild curry sauce), and sweet potato cakes. You can choose a side of rice, salad, Israeli pasta, or potato. The portions were big! When we were ordering we tried to order 2 hummus portions and were very grateful the man suggested we didn’t as the portions were big enough.
The service was dead quick.
They sell a selection of alcoholic drinks.
They take card.
You can sit indoors or outdoors but the open glass front makes it all feel very open anyway so you can see people watch.
Only one toilet but clean, plenty of toilet paper, soap, hand tissues, and with a toilet seat!More
