It's not easy getting all the ingredients you might want in Tonga - I love Chinese food and was spoiled for choice growing up in London and whilst Chinese food in Tonga does not compare, I have been to all the Chinese restaurants in Tonga and the Emerald is in my opinion (and that of most of the local diners),... Wow! The serving sizes here were a little ridiculous for how cheap it was. My friend and I ordered 4 dishes to share between the two of us because we assumed the portions would be small as they were so cheap (6-12 pa'anga per dish). We had so much left overs we both had breakfast the next day. The servers... More

A group of 20 of us booked in here for dinner. What great food. We were put in our own room and despite the large number all were served within a reasonable amount of time. Great service by the lady who took our orders.

On Sunday's there are literally no options than the Emerald. It's fine but a bit hit and miss. I had salt and pepper squid, which disappointed. On the other hand my partner had an amazing simple dish of stir fried veggies.with rice for 2 and drinks it was a passable meal. The menu was long, perhaps too long. Hard to... More

As we stayed at the Emerald, it seemed intuitive to eat breakfast here. We weren't disappointed. Went for a cooked breakfast most days - eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, tomato, mushrooms et al. Included juice and filtered coffee, fruit. Give the cereal a miss unless your taste buds are used to the long-life milk used on islands...

There are lots of people dining in here and the hotel was booked out. They have good food here and expect this place to be super packed with people on sunday since it's one of the only places that serve meals on sunday.

That restaurant is really good. It have "premium"-level look and food and service but prices are really inexpensive. You can choose a dish which can "make you full" for lunch for only 5 Pa'anga which is less than $2.5USD. Other similar looking restaurants in Nuku'alofa are far more expensive. And all their food is really tasty, good quality, nice looking,... More
