Abyssinia is a lovely restaurant that hasn't changed since I first went 5 years ago; the restaurant is in a nice quiet area of Nairobi not too far from Westlands. It was recommended by a work colleague back in 2012 and it was a pleasure to return. Don't worry about not knowing what is the best thing to eat on... More

Abyssinia is tucked away in a nice shaded compound. It is cool, sitting arrangements are simple and great for families or groups. The service is a bit slow though. Their food is authentic Ethopian cuisine, value for money, quality and portion wise, and juice is delicious. They also need to improve on the play area, at least fix and paint the... More

We had a great meal at the Abyssinia. The food was extremely tasty and very nicely presented on a large platter on injera. It did take some time for the order to arrive. Several people ordered coffee after the meal, however, the waiter forgot because he was too busy watching European soccer on TV. He could pay closer attention to... More

Well, to start with, we ate biased as we believe that Ethiopian food is very underrated. The smooth and strong flavors are distinctive. This place offers great good, friendly staff and quiet atmosphere. What else can you ask for!

Extraordinary food, unobtrusive service, relaxed vibe, nice small playground; a delightful family evening. Try it. Unfamiliar can be very good,

Abyssinia is set in luck green gardens around Brookside in Nairobi's westlands area offering great Ethiopian food. The variety and taste takes you back to restaurants in Addis Ababa. Try the coffee after your meal as you watch the coffee ceremony.

With well thought out sharing platters for mixed groups, Abysinnia takes all the work out of ordering for you but keeps the authenticity. It is relaxing with lots of trees, great traditional music and a coffee ceremony after you feast. Never too crowded and the service is great.

Absolute yumminess, for 1/3 of European prices. Traditional setting, crockery, and utensils, huge portions, great atmosphere and great quick service. It is located slightly out of the way but worth the trip and search. Take a variety of dishes (a combination), especially if you have never tried Ethiopian food. Also, try the coffee, it's delicious and comes with a burning... More

Best Ethiopian food ever. With 20 inch flat bread with all kinds of chicken, mutton and other local dishes poured on the bread, to be eaten without any cutlery from the same big plate, phew, should not miss this one.

Years of feasting at the restaurants of their Ethiopian competitions, we've now finally managed to try the Abyssinia as well. Somehow it was always off our usual ways across Nairobi, and, for sure, it is a bit hidden located. Along a bigger highway, though accessible via a small side road, located in lush greenery and tucked away in a style,... More
