Genuinely love this place. Service is fast, food is great and it's cheap. Great hangover cure having the fried rice with beef cubes, spring rolls and fresh coconut. 10/10

Recommended by a local. It's simple. No frills. Formica tables. Food delicious. Excellent noodles. Drink all you can tea. A bargain meal for 2 for HKD 100.

I visited the Pearl with my wife in 2011 and was pleased to locate it again during this short stay. We dined here twice and can never be disappointed. The venue is fairly basic but the food is varied and tasty. Don't be surprised to have fellow travellers allocated seating at your table as this is a far east phenomenon;... More

In strong contrast to the numerous glitzy restaurants in the area, this place is somewhat sleazy. As you step in you enter the kitchen, from which you are being directed to the low-ceiling 2nd floor, where an unpleasant waitress will take your order. Menu seems authentic and prices are cheap, and everything we tasted was rather good.

Standard service. Really good beef stew and exceptionally fatty but excellent taste to their spring rolls.

I used to come to this place often for lunch as they have great food and it's also reasonably priced. Came over one evening with some friends and as we were finishing up our meal, a giant rat jumped up onto the fridge on the first floor and started staring at us. It was eating some food it had picked... More

We were travelling on a budget around HK, so this was such a gem of a find. It was completely full as well when we got there, so we knew we had made a great choice. Affordable, tasty and sizeable food made this restaurant one of our favourites on our trip, hidden among the expensive 'cool' restaurants of LKF. Definitely... More

Tucked away in a quiet and eclectic street in the centre of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong. Excellent home-style Vietnamese fare at a reasonable price. What is on offer is authentic and photographed so that ordering is a breeze. Casual tables upstairs and downstairs. If you are dining upstairs, mind your head. Whilst there are plenty of warning signs, I... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
