One of my most frequently visited restaurants in Hong Kong. Cozy environment and fast service. Food is very good. The lamb shank is my favorite. Dessert is amazing. Braised apple is interesting and excellent. Add this to your itineraries.

The best time to taste hairy crabs is usually from sept to nov. Shanghai Garden Restaurant is the restaurant I would go every year. We ordered nearly all the hairy crab dishes in the menu: the dumplings, vegetables, the noodles, the bread...and crab roe for sure, all are fantastic and delicious. Will be back again next year!

Another place close to work that I go to. The shang hai dumplings were very good (the juices were not too hot when I bit into it). The other staples were pretty good but I cant say that the service is that great. We had to keep asking them for a drink that I ordered at least 3 times.

Went with a big group for a business dinner. We were in a private room with 4 tables. Food was good but service was slow. Easy location and can go to Eslite Bookstore after dinner.

Not easy to find (in an office building and up some stairs/escalator) but worthwhile if you want a 'safe' Yum Cha/Cantonese meal experience - good range and quality of food and good (efficient) service. Decor is modern and easy on the eye.

Very busy despite being a week night. Nice decor with tables adequate spaced from each other. Beautiful table setting and delicious nibbles of tofu cubes and pickled vegetables. Good menu selection with picture illustrations for some dishes. I particularly like the chilled drunken chicken, tofu millefeuilles and the deep fried yellow croakers. The serving of the dishes was too quick tempo... More

Though named Shanghai Garden, the extensive menu offers dishes from other parts of China (for example Beijing) too. The food is decent and reasonably priced in terms of taste, presentation and portion. It's part of the Maxim group. Compared with other Maxim restaurants in for example Causeway Bay and Taikooshing, the service is generally more professional and efficient and the... More

I have had a number of meals at the Shanghai Garden restaurant and have always found the food of high quality. On this occasion a group of friends ordered a set menu. I must say that the quality on this occasion was below expectation. The service was good and so was the ambiance. Wish the food was better

Shanghai garden restaurant located in Central district of Hong Kong , 2F of a commercial centre. The environment looks quite good and waiters were nice. We order two shark fin soup and some appertizer ! Taste was good and serve in nice condition. Compare with some other Shanghai style food in Hong Kong , taste was suitable for us.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
