It's a refined colonial style bar with leather seats and white coated waiters. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and attentive. Good place to wind down. Some good beers, wines and a wide range of whiskey and spirits - a bit on the expensive side but bearable. Apparently, it is also known for its curry. Annoying part is the... More

Great old school bar at the Mandarin Oriental for a drink. A Jazz band was playing which was great. The drinks list is extensive and the staff were great :)

A must visit bar when visiting Hong Kong! And if you are on a business trip and they don't want to bring you there just for a quick drink, insist that they accompany you for a beer served in the silver 'mug'. What a special beer taste experience! Ask for the Wasabi peanuts. I very much hope they still have... More

This place will appeal to those who love great service in a room filled with comfy leather chairs/sofas - in short, very old school. They don't hang around either, your drinks are prepared quickly but perfectly. Quite small though so you could struggle go find a seat during "rush hour". Great start to an evening if you're staying at the... More

Stopped in for lunch in Hong Kong's classic bar and was "Blown away" with the flavor and subtlety of their famous curry. Professional and polite service is a given in the MO, and when the team member gave me the internet access I was able to post this review. One suggestion. Don't charge a paying customer for internet access. In... More

This is one of the is school classic hotel bars full of old timey charms. Possibly the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. Highly recommend. I get a drink here every time I visit Hong Kong. I can't wait to go back next week.

Go early evening when HK is relaxing after work. Great atmosphere, classic cocktails, beer in pewter tankards, and classy resident band. Excellent service from staff, try to get a seat at the bar.

Beer served from a frosty pewter mug with impeccable service! It doesn't get much better. Live jazz in the evening and a great buzz throughout!

Attentive, polite service, cool pewter mugs with good British wallop. Great bar food (sliders, bar snacks or something more substantial). Live music and a bustle of international accents and laughter. A favourite spot of mine even if I don't stay at the Mandarin hotel (which is a great hotel to stay at by the way!).

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
