This a lovely bar and setting. Small, cosy and with some beautiful wood paneling which gives a marvelous ambience. - a snug as one of the other reviewers suggests. It's a pleasure just to walk through the door. Plus there is a delightful menu of old British delights from the olden days of the British abroad. Three of us for... More

My guess is that this place has not changed for many years. Decor is London club style and food is upmarket school dinners. Is a great place fora business meeting and service is impeccable. Highly recommend the prawn curry

I've been coming here for many years and make a point of stopping by when in Hong Kong. The wait staff is among my favorite in the world: classy, attentive, unobtrusive and quick to anticipate needs. This is an old school pub to be sure, wooden walls and ceiling, old oil paintings of tycoons, hushed tones, laughter, excellent selection of... More

Perfect place to banish the post Brexit views and to remind you that there are some things that you miss from the UK ! Menu is compact but it has some many things on it you end up craving occasionally and as such the difficulty is in choosing. We had the fish and chips and Rogan Josh both well cooked.... More

You wouldn't really expect any less from the Mandarin Orient Group but this piece of Old Hong Kong is always worth a visit. The menu is very traditional - prawn cocktail is a favourite and Fish and Chips not to be missed - my colleague had the Rogan Josh - also amazing. There are no reservations at lunchtime, when we... Enjoyed a nice meal at The Chinnery recently. This is a classic, old-school club/pub with nice atmosphere with attentive, very good service. Weekend opening hours are 6.30-10.30pm (closed on Sundays). Cocktail drinks are pricey but very good at The Chinnery. Mojito was spritely and tasted excellent. Mint Julep was a perfect blend, a nice pre dinner drink. During this meal... More

A great place for some British classics. This restaurant has some fantastic curry. The roast was also very juicy and delicious, but Yorkshire pudding was dry. The best part of the restaurant is the intimate atmosphere and attentive service.

This place is not cheap, but you see when you enter for sure. But the perfect service, the interior and the long history of the place need to be paid too. On other hand: We got some perfect drinks in such a cosy atmosphere! We enjoyed very much, but were disappointed next day: it isn't open on Saturday afternoon (And... More

If you want some good honest colonial grub (fish n chips, burger, sheppard's pie, curry etc) go no further. You cannot book so get here early and grab a table. I have often toyed with taking the afternoon off and exploring the extensive whiskey collection too...

Description
Named after the famous British artist George Chinnery, The Chinnery enjoys a relaxed club-like atmosphere with deep upholstered armchairs, green leather banquettes and warm wood panelling.

Offering a laid-back alternative to our fine dining restaurants, The Chinnery specialises in traditional British cuisine with classic dishes such as bangers and mash, fish and chips, and steak and ale pie available for lunch and dinner.

Home to one of the world's largest collections of single malt whiskies, The Chinnery has over 100 varieties for guests to try. We also serve chilled draft beer in custom-made silver tankards by a veteran staff who know many guests by name.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
