Islamic Centre Canteen is strategically located in the Wan Chai area, not too far from the main street. One could take the Ding Ding from any part of the Hong Kong Island to savour halal food here.
The canteen, which in fact a restaurant is located on the 5th Floor of the Masjid Ammar and Osman Ramju Sadick. The restaurant serves typical halal south Chinese cuisine.
I visited the restaurant twice for lunch. The first time I had the beef noodle soup and on the second visit, 3 types of dim sum.
The food, especially the noodle was really good and the price reasonable. For Muslim visitors to Hong Kong this is god sent.

Came for breakfast around 10 plus in the morning for halal dim sum. You’ll be given a green card for you to bring along and place your order at the dim sum pushcart. The server will ask for your order and update the cart immediately as well as serve your dim sum order.
Dim sum was delicious and hot. Portion was good too. Recommended to share so that you’ll get to taste as many dim sum as possible. Price was reasonable and they accept credit card payment too besides cash.

I am a frequent visitor of this establishment, my wife and I eat here at least once every time we visited HK on our annual trips.
Everything we tried here was good, no only the yum cha menu but also the a la carte menu. Atmosphere was comfortable, clean tables, clean utensils, service is a bit grumpy which was amusingly common in Hong Kong.

Sometimes I’m tolerant on many things in life but when it comes to food and restaurant service, believe me, I’m ruthless.
We arrive at 2pm with my brother who decided to accompany me (very adorable of him) because I wanted to do this place since the beginning of this stay in Hong Kong. Several typical Hong Kong dishes but this time halal! I lick the babines, I decide to take the classics, the rolls rice chicken, the radish cake, the chicken dumplings, the chicken caramel onion and peppers; and finally the beef noodle soup.
Guess what dishes I liked? Only one: chicken caramel onion and peppers, and again... I thought it was too sweet. I think I enjoyed it when I tasted the rest...
When we asked about the dumplings, the waitress brings us back to the cashier and shows us what’s left... we had to use the cold dumplings, please... but in which restaurant do we serve cold dumplings??? Obviously, the taste was not present; the radish cake, tasteless and very quickly publishable; the roll rice, we had the Impression of chewing newsprint; the noodle soup... the beef without taste, the soup that tasted more like tap water... obviously I did not eat the noodles. I can’t stand the waste, but that wasn’t possible, I’m sorry.
I don’t understand the 4.5/5 for this Islamic canteen... when you see what these countries offer as a vegetarian or halal alternative, you have a choice anyway... favor local restaurants with a real history and depth in Hong Kong cuisine, believe me, it is not in this canteen that you will find your happiness.
Afterwards, maybe I have a difficult palate, but I think I’m pretty easy in terms of food. Is it my difficult French side? I don't think so, either. Thank God there was the mosque and the ablution room in that same building to give me the pill.

I made the mistake of coming around 14:00 on
a Friday just after prayers and it was packed.
I would suggest to try and avoid coming at this time. Too busy. After waiting for fifteen minutes, I got a seat on a table that I shared with others. You will most likely have to share a table. As the name suggests, like a canteen type place. Reasonably clean. Noisy, busy and chaotic but a fun environment! Huge menu from dim sum to noodles and more. I am Muslim and hence came. Portions are big. I went for the rice noodles with braised beef in soup (small). There is a choice of small and large. The small was big, generous and filling. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Very cheap. The soup itself was spicy which I didn't mind but a little oily and some of the cuts of beef were fatty. They could have added more beef as well. The soup came out quickly. It didn't taste like it was freshly made and piping hot as I expected. If your Muslim, looking for a cheap eat and something simple and ordinary, then I would recommend going. I would also suggest ordering a variety of dishes if you are with others and sharing. You can then try more things. As a solo diner, I couldn't do it!

The taste of the food is okay for the prices they offer for the dishes. Though the quantity is less. The local Chinese waitresses over there are pretty Rude 😡 and often forgets the order and if in case you go there at 7.30 in evening they will be more rude and will make you order in a hurry and above all you have to finish the food before 8 in the evening by hook or crook 🙄
Overall if you want to enjoy the authentic food and that so for dinner then you must go there before 7 in the evening and DO RECHECK your order before the lady leaves 🙏😏

I’ve eaten here on numerous occasions and the dim sum is always very popular. It’ manages to be 100% halal yet still has an authentic taste.

Read the reviews about the dimsum before i ventured into hong kong and made sure i ticked it off as it was authentic and halal. It disnt dissapoint. However we went on a sunday so the place was packed at lunch so be ready to share the table with fellow foodies. The size of the dumplings were huge so we ordered way too much an ended up packing some home and even ordered the spicy beef noddles to go. A must stop if ur looking for halal dim sum!

On the fifth floor of the mosque. Really delicious halal Cantonese food with quick service. Food was cheaper than other restaurants and as tasty. They had an English menu with pictures so it was easy to order. Portions are large especially the bowl of soup which is enough to feed about ten people!

I was looking forward to the food at the center but when I went in there's a sign at the canteen's entrance that said "Muslims only". I respectfully left.

Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
