Kowloon in general gets a bad rap when it comes to restaurants, but The Alchemist certainly exceeds expectations. I'll admit that it took them an exceedingly long amount of time for our tea and coffee, but the food was pretty good, and priced fairly, and the selection of beers was phenomenal, with a good range of local HK brews the... Visited the cafe after it was recommended by a friend. The cafe is designed on a travel concept, which definitely excited me. The cafe is designed very tastefully; however I was not thoroughly impressed. For starters, if two people are visiting the cafe, the cafe wants both the people to order separate items or you cannot be seated in the... More

If you are staying in the neighborhood, as we were, definitely check this place out for coffee, pizza, sandwiches, cocktails, extensive beer menu and more. The night we went they had phenomenal live music and the atmosphere was great, packed with locals having a good time. Seems like one of a kind in this neighborhood at this time.

It is pretty simple place you would easily find in many cities in Europe. Hong Kong still doesn't have many of such simple places. The food is simple. The choice of drinks good. Atmosphere nice.

don't know why there are so many waiting outside the cafe...if it's for waffle and coffee, then i will; if for main course, sorry that it's not worthwhile. The cafe puts effort on decoration which is also a selling point to customers.

Fantastic coffee, certainly the best in the area. Good coffee is about in Hong Kong, you just have to find it.

My wife and I have a rule - don't eat Western food in Asia. We will make an exception for The Alchemist. Great pasta, delicious pizzas (try the seafood pizza, quite brilliant!) and coffee that will impress anyone. All this a short walk from our Hong Kong base. Truly lucky to have this venue so close to us in an... More

We took a chance here from the few TA reviews and made our way over after fabric shopping in Sham shui Po on a weekday. The street and area might put some off, but persevere! We got there about 1and the place was packed but we got a small table by the window. Long tables are also there plus seating... More

This restaurant provide a lot of travel books for customers to read, it is a v gd place to spend yr time there. The food quality is gd, price is reasonable, and the specail drink is worthwhile to try! The decoration of the restaurant is in Taiwan style, it is not a simple restaurant.

We went to Alchemist because it was around the corner from the place we stayed and were amazed by what we found: a completely buzzing western style bistro with a authentic Hong Kong flavor. Western breakfast and lunch menu with local chinese supplements and a 2 page floral tea and western coffee menu. Average prices. Crowded with local youngsters even... More
